Gemini
Elder Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Stumbling down the empty streets that will swallow in us whole.
Breathing was the thing, we traversed this hazy mountain pass.
Sipping harsh elixir, nights above us melting fast.
I'm coming home.
It's been so long.
I'm coming home.
Held fast the ship that board us forth.
Enveloped in the darkness, buried frosty dreams in all.
Spoke to me in slumber, fleeing on the wings of dawn.
Ember flame arising, we better journey on.
I'm coming home.
I'm coming home.
The lyrics to Elder's song 'Gemini' illustrate the feeling of the singer being lost and moving through a hazy and uncertain world. The opening lines ask the question of where to go, and the sense of being swallowed whole by the darkness of the empty streets. Breathing becomes a primary motif, suggesting that in order to traverse through this passage, a calmness and focus must be achieved, while the harsh elixir hints at the need for escape and release in a world that doesn't allow for either.
The second verse suggests a journey on a ship, which is overcoming the darkness and moving towards new beginnings. Even in sleep, there is still beauty and hope, as the wings of dawn allows for a journey to renewal. The last lines, repeated twice, provide the audience with a sense of relief and convey that the singer is finally coming home after being lost for so long.
Overall, the lyrics of 'Gemini' portray the feeling of being lost, but also the desire for renewal and a chance to feel at home. The vivid imagery and metaphoric language help to create an atmosphere of mystery and wonder, allowing listeners to experience the bewilderment of the singer's journey.

For everyone's delight, here are my guessed lyrics. I'm just missing one thing, but otherwise I think it's pretty good (I'm biased of course) :
Those days, where were we to go
Stumbling down the empty streets that were swallowing us whole
Breathing was the thing
We traversed this hazy moutain pass
Sipping harsh elixir
The ice above us melting fast
I'm coming home
It's been so long
I'm coming home
Held fast, the ship that brought us forth
Enveloped in the darkness, there in frosty dreams of yore
Spoke to me in slumber,
Flee on the wings of dawn
Ember flame arising,
We better journey on
I'm coming home
I'm coming home
PS : I guess, as someone said in the comments, I've gone through the seven circles of hell.
PPS : I did some tweaks to what would make most sense. The frosty part still has me on my nerves, because I know that's not what he says, but it's the only word I can hear out of the sound he makes.

Yeah, and the same thing is going to happen 50 years from now when people say music of 2013 was the best and 2063 music sucks. There is good and bad music in all genres and time periods, it's just a matter of personal preference.
@sandordorgicse4120
Yeah. But mostly of nowadays music really sucks! :D
...But we have many psy'rock and stoner in the 2010s, so we got refuge (or shelter)! ^^
