Never Come Around
La Sera Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If you ever wanna call me from LA,
i will simply tell you that i've gone away.
I can't handle hearing from you everyday.
So I'm just glad your ever tired of being ok

ahh ahh

but you will never call me 'cos your never there,
I can finally see that you where never there.
If you ever call again, I'll have to tell you, I can't be your friend.

ahh ahh

ohhhhhhh ohhhh ohh oh

Driving 'round for hours, seaching for a clue.
waiting to tell you i can't ever be with you.
so run back to her love, because it's over now.
Safe to say that baby never comes around

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of La Sera's song "Never Come Around" depict the singer's decision to cut ties with an ex-lover who is living in Los Angeles. The song begins with the singer stating that if their ex-lover ever tries to reach out, she will tell them that she has already moved on and doesn't want to hear from them. She admits that she can't handle hearing from them every day, and isn't interested in maintaining any sort of friendship.

As the song progresses, the singer realizes that her ex-lover never even bothered to reach out, and in a way, that realization brings her peace. She had been waiting around for them to call her, but eventually had to accept that they simply weren't interested. She decides to take control of the situation and tells her ex-lover that she can't be their friend - effectively ending any possibility of rekindling their romance.

The song is about the end of a relationship and the pain that comes with it. Although the singer seems to be at peace with her decision, she is still obviously hurt by the fact that her ex-lover doesn't seem to care about her anymore. In a way, the lyrics speak to the universal experience of moving on and letting go of someone who we once loved deeply.

“Never Come Around” is a great song from Vivian Girls bassist Kickball Katy’s solo project Le Sera. I am a HUGE Kickball Katy fan and this song proves she has magical songwriting abilities. I love her voice! She has a dreamy velvety voice. This video is by amazing filmmaker Brady Hall, who created the Vivian Girls two brilliant videos, “Moped Girls” and “When I’m Gone.” Beautiful work! -Eric Chicago

:0. I'm blown away. I always knew the bassist from the Vivian Girls had some serious talent. The best song from their last album was the one she sang on (Dance if you Wanna).
