The Diff'rence
J Dilla Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

The fruit man
The fruit man
The fruit man

You will see the diff'rence
The diff'rence

Come on

Overall Meaning

When J Dilla repeats the lyrics "The fruit man" in his song "The Diff'rence," he is referring to the concept of the "fruit of one's labor," or the tangible results one sees after putting in hard work. The repetition of this phrase emphasizes the importance of working hard and seeing the rewards of that effort.

Dilla then sings "You will see the diff'rence," which can be interpreted as a message of encouragement to continue working hard and striving towards your goals. The adding of the apostrophe in "diff'rence" is also a clever play on words, suggesting that the differences one sees after putting in hard work may not always be immediately obvious or visible.

Overall, "The Diff'rence" is a song that emphasizes the importance of perseverance and hard work. It serves as a reminder to keep pushing forward, even when it may seem difficult or challenging.

The beginning of this track sounds like a siren, an emergency, a tough situation, while the end sounds majestic, victorious, and certain. I see the diff'rence.

@GoldK4L

It's throughout the entire album not just this one track. Y'know as I relisten to this album more and more, it makes me think. What if there's no real deep meaning. What if it's just something he wanted to leave as his legacy. The beats are sonically way different from anything he was doing before. I think the only messages are for certain people like his family members
