Keep It Healthy
Warpaint Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I could not believe what I was seeing
There's no words even believe in
How could we wend did we forget, what we can't forget?!
That's the stars feel what we're made of!

I could not believe what you have said
With all the experience
Was your crowd in [?]
You were there, you were there
When I first believed in
I first laughed and thought I was dreaming!

You and I feel the same
Don't forget, don't forget
You and I walked the flame
Don't forget, don't forget
I never made a sound
Don't forget
Somebody else

I woke up one day, baby
Let's get cool and
There's no need to where you're going
Take my hand, take my heart into this moment
To where you understand - and where you believe in

(In my dreams we all wake)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Warpaint's song Keep It Healthy suggest a feeling of disbelief and loss of connection, with the singer questioning how they could forget certain experiences and sentiments that are integral to their being. The line "I could not believe what I was seeing" hints at a sense of shock or disbelief at some recent event, and the following lines suggest that this event has led to a disconnect from oneself and others. The reference to stars and what we're made of suggests a deeper, more existential questioning of the self and one's place in the universe.

The second verse seems to address another person directly, possibly someone the singer has looked up to or admired in the past. The line "With all the experience, was your crowd in [?]" suggests that this person may have become disconnected from their own experiences or their audience, and the singer is disappointed by this. However, they also express a sense of nostalgia and fondness for the first time they believed in something, suggesting that they still hold on to hope and a desire for connection.

The chorus is a call to remember the shared experiences and emotions that have brought the two individuals together, and a reminder not to forget them in the face of whatever may be causing the current disconnect. The final line, "In my dreams we all wake," suggests a hope for awakening or clarity in the future.

Overall, the lyrics of Keep It Healthy convey a sense of searching for connection and meaning in a world that can often feel confusing and disconnected.

Dunno....ya know that part of learning a skill where u have just gotten some sense of what goes into the craft but your own skill and understanding is pretty limited so you're really just in awe of what really talented people can do?

That's where I'm at lol 😅

I hear it and pick up on details of awesome things that are at play, but i have little if any clue how it's achieved. Just a bedroom producer ngl. Put me at a Pro Tools station and catch me slackjawed. I'm the dude looking over the shoulder in amazement.

Just hype... 🎉
Esp now hearing the band does it themselves.

What I'll say is they really dial in the tone of every instrument, the amps and drums, how everything is mic'd, and how it's recorded, processed, mixed and mastered to achieve what seems the exact desired effect.

This is one of those bands where you can listen to a track over and over, keep picking up new details and really dig how brilliantly everything is put together. ❤
