Woman Love
Gene Vincent Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Woman love, hey hey hey, woman love, hey hey
Woman love, hey hey hey, woman love, hey hey

Well I went to my good doctor not so long ago
A-walkin' in a circle and moanin' low
He looked at me and said, good lord above, son,
You need a vaccination of a-woman love.

Well I'm lookin' for a woman with a one track mind
A huggin' and a kissin' and a smoochin' all the time
I'd build her a castle to the moon up above
I sure am a needin' me some woman love. (let's rock)

We'll I'm lookin' for a lovin' gal that needs a lot of care
Not worried about her figure or the color of her hair
The doctor really scared me when he said, good lord above,
You sure am a-needin' you some woman love.

Well I'm tired of walkin' circles, tired of moanin' low
I want my baby with me everywhere I go
I want my lovin' baby to call him turtle dove
I sure am a-needin' me some woman love (let's rock again)

Well I'm tired of walkin' circles, tired of moanin' low
I want my baby with me everywhere I go
I want my lovin' baby to call him turtle dove
I sure am a-needin' me some woman love.

Woman love, hey hey hey, woman love, hey hey
Woman love, hey hey hey, woman love, hey hey
Woman love, hey hey hey, woman love, hey hey

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Woman Love" by Gene Vincent express the singer's yearning for a fulfilling romantic relationship with a woman. The song begins with the singer seeking medical attention from his doctor because he is walking in circles and feeling low. The doctor diagnoses him with a lack of "woman love" and prescribes him with a dose of it.

Throughout the song, the singer expresses his desire for a woman with a "one track mind" who is constantly affectionate and loving towards him. He is not concerned with her appearance or figure; he just wants someone to love and care for him. The repetition of the phrase "I sure am a needing' me some woman love" emphasizes the singer's desperate desire for this type of love.

The song's upbeat rockabilly rhythm also adds to the overall feeling of the singer's excitement and anticipation of finding love. The phrase "let's rock" that appears in the lyrics signals a shift from the slow, mournful tone of the beginning of the song to a more energetic, joyful tone as the singer thinks about finding the woman of his dreams.

I really LOVED Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps back in the day. They were the best.

@Rockabillytube

...they`re still the best! And not to forget Gene will never die, even if he is dead !!!

@sojnab1

any one can cover this but you could never come near the sheer class,style and power of Gene and the Blue caps

@aussieagle

Classic R'n'R ❤

Gene Vincent, in 1956 - 57, had something new and fresh, like nobody else, at the time. And l love his sound and many of the songs from this periode. When he stopped with His Blue Caps, he lost that magic rock and roll energy, that made his unik sound and energi.
Very sad. We had some moments. Remember the moments! 💙

@bartleywalton2178

That is old school rockabilly & rock and roll

@billyonions6024

This stuff scuffs my bones.

@antbarton

In Britain they Banned this back in 56/57 , because they were convinced the word fuck was in the lyrics.I couldn't believe reading that recently but true.

@jarirusi

Yes, that's what happened with this Gene's song back in fifties. I guess song became even more like thrilling "forbidden fruit" among the youth of fifties.

@antbarton

@Jarski J. I get excited listening still in the 2000s,must have been a blast in the 50s. Heres a great book I read recently, highly recommend.
