There must be many of my age (70) and experiences in the UK, and elsewhere for that matter, that consider Joy Division and New Order one of the most original and influencial bands of the 1970s and 1980s. My children and grandchildren really appreciate so much of thier output. All I wanted to add was thanks so much to all the band members with us and not. Magnificent work. Ceremony is special.

honestly, I am almost 20 years old and today is the first time I have ever heard this song and I think Ive just listened to it 15 times. The intro up until he starts singing has given me chills and I'm tearing up. this is truly a masterpiece of a song. Listening to Ian Curtis singing it in the Joy Division version then coming to this one, hearatbreaking but so beautiful and wonderful of New Order to carry it on. Music isnt this meaningful anymore.

I feel like this is such a band song. A group of people who learned to play together, at the peak of their songwriting ability. It just flows so well. They are all locked in together. I'm not one of these purists who only like the Joy Division version, because we all know Joy Division wrote it. But three-fourths of Joy Division are still in this band in 1980. The fact that it's Bernard Sumner's first song with the band makes it more human. New Order and Joy Division have so many classic songs that I love but to me this is the ultimate, it's like the quintessential spirit of the whole Joy Division / New Order journey.

Turns out I don't have epilepsy, but conversion disorder. Suffering all this pain (my muscles hurt all the time because of the sometimes hour-long spasms) makes me relate to this song even more, and I consider Ian Curtis some kind of distant friend of sorts. I feel for some reason his soul in his music has been with me to try to help me in a way. I have never related to a musical artist in such a way before; I understand that this isn't the same band but this song was written by the man.

The night of my last day on the University, I heard this song all the night in my headphones. I remember that this song was one of my favourites to be inspired all the time. Now I'm here again, after 5 years, a minutes ago I'm taking my flight to go home and unexpectedly (seems that it was a mistake) but the song began to play in the speaker of the airplane seats.. The fact that New Order was formed after Ian Curtis' suicide makes me believe beauty can come from tragedy. I've struggled with suicidal thoughts myself for a long time, but my one attempt failed. I'm grateful to be alive and have devoted my life to loving myself. This song stirs up all these bittersweet feelings in me.

I come back to this song every so often. I discovered it for the first time back in my 10th grade year a weekend at my aunts house and it's always been a haunting tune to me. Sadness and melancholy are painted in these notes, chords, and lyrics. This album has such meaning for me- we had moved from Oahu to the Big Island. This was the only cassette I had to listen to in our car, which came on the barge before the rest of our stuff. It is the soundtrack of part two of my life. Still listen to it all the time( digitally of course)
