Walk on by, walk on by
Walk on by, walk on by

Yeah, bitch, I said what I said
I′d rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head
I don't care, I paint the town red
Bitch, I said what I said
I′d rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head
I don't care, I paint the town red

Mm, she the devil
She a bad lil' bitch, she a rebel
She put her foot to the pedal
It′ll take a whole lot for me to settle
Mm, she the devil
She a bad lil′ bitch, she a rebel
She put her foot to the pedal
It'll take a whole lot for me to settle (Yeah, yeah)

Said my happiness is all of your misery
I put good dick all in my kidneys
This Margiel′ don't come with no jealousy
My illness don′t come with no remedy
I am so much fun without Hennessy
They just want my love and my energy
You can't talk no shit without penalties
Bitch, I′m in yo' shit if you send for me

I'm going to glow up one more time
Trust me, I have magical foresight
You gon′ see me sleepin′ in courtside
You gon' see me eatin′ ten more times
Ugh, you can't take that bitch nowhere
Ugh, I look better with no hair
Ugh, ain′t no sign I can't smoke here
Ugh, gimme the chance and I′ll go there (Yeah)

Yeah, bitch, I said what I said
I'd rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head
I don't care, I paint the town red
Bitch, I said what I said
I′d rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head
I don′t care, I paint the town red

Mm, she the devil
She a bad lil' bitch, she a rebel
She put her foot to the pedal
It′ll take a whole lot for me to settle
Mm, she the devil
She a bad lil' bitch, she a rebel
She put her foot to the pedal
It′ll take a whole lot for me to settle (Yeah, yeah)

Said pop make money, now you try, bitch
You could use a revamp with a new vibe, sis
I don't need a big feature or a new sidekick
I don′t need a new fan 'cause my boo like it
I don't need to wear a wig to make you like it
I′m a two-time bitch, you ain′t knew I'd win?
Throw a shot like you tryna have a food fight then
All my opps waitin′ for me to be you, I bet

Said I got drive, I don't need a car
Money really all that we fiendin′ for
I'm doin′ things they ain't seen before
Fans ain't dumb, but extremists are
I′m a demon, Lord
Fall off what? I ain′t seen the horse
Called your bluff, better cite the source
Fame ain't somethin′ that I need no more

'Cause, bitch, I said what I said
I′d rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head
I don't care, I paint the town red
Bitch, I said what I said
I′d rather be famous instead
I let all that get to my head

Overall Meaning

In "Paint The Town Red," Doja Cat expresses her desire for fame and the confidence she feels in embracing her own uniqueness. She starts by stating that she would rather be famous than care about what others think of her. She acknowledges that she lets the fame get to her head, but she doesn't care because she will paint the town red, meaning she will live life to the fullest and make a statement wherever she goes.

Doja describes herself as a rebellious and devilish character, someone who is unapologetically herself. She puts her foot to the pedal, meaning she is determined and driven. It would take a lot for her to settle for anything less in life. She takes pleasure in the misery of others and boasts about her sexual prowess, saying that good sex makes her happy and she doesn't need any remedies for that.

She mentions that people only want her love and energy, but they can't talk negatively about her without facing consequences. Additionally, she predicts her future success and the glamorous lifestyle she will lead, sleeping courtside at basketball games and enjoying luxurious meals. She asserts her confidence and asserts that she looks better without hair, showing her pride in her own appearance. She declares that no one can stop her from smoking where she pleases and asks for a chance to prove herself in any situation.

Doja Cat then takes aim at other artists who try to imitate her success, claiming that they need a revamp and a new vibe. She asserts that she doesn't need big features or the approval of others because her fans already support her. She affirms her authenticity and success, stating that she doesn't need to wear a wig to impress anyone. She is confident in her abilities and suggests that her critics are simply waiting for her to fail, but she will prove them wrong.

She concludes by emphasizing her drive and the fact that she doesn't need material possessions like cars to feel successful. Money is the only thing she and her fans crave, and she promises to do things that people have never seen before. She acknowledges that some fans may be extreme in their devotion but remains unbothered. She declares herself a demon and asserts that she has not fallen off or lost her success. Fame is no longer something she needs because she has already achieved it.

Overall, "Paint The Town Red" is a confident and assertive anthem about Doja Cat's desire for fame, her pride in her uniqueness, and her determination to succeed on her own terms.

I really enjoyed this, and I’ll try to provide my interpretation. Doja is claiming every negative criticism said towards her, she doesn’t regret the way she got to fame — trolling, being silly, having fun — and she understands there’s politics involved in fame. There’s a scene of her throwing red meat — that symbolizes giving the fans what they want to maintain interest: could be sex appeal, controversy, etc., whatever gets them talking. This, to me, was her “Devil” video that so many other artists flirt with, but with some changes:

Doja in the beginning is covered in blood, yet removes an eye. This is, to me, her being reborn. The eye is her vision—literally, figuratively. You see various entities desiring her “vision”, to control the artist. You see the artist in full control, styling on the entities. Death with the scythe represents the end, yet she manipulates Death with her music.

You see the demon missing a horn, who wants Imp Doja for himself, and you see her offering the demon her body and a missing horn, which breaks and cracks; him, trusting her, lusts for her only for what she can give him.

In the end, imp Doja cuts the eye, which has now become symbolic of an embryo AND, the way I interpret it, is that this scene is where bloody Doja was born. That, to me, is symbolic of the many women before Doja who compromised themselves for fame, or were coerced into that compromise by demonic men. They (those before) became demons themselves, and now bloody Doja won’t have any part of that. She’ll be in control.

Largely, too, there’s a theme of strong women controlling their own vision, their own bodies, their own fates—having agency despite the entities that wish to control you.

Just my two cents. 😊

PAINT THE TOWN - LOONA
Get ready
Are you ready for some action?
시작된 우리의 mission
여기서는 그 누구도 날 막을 순 없어
내 안에 가진 것들로
다른 colors 비춰보면
서로에게 끌렸던 걸 느낄 수 있어 (okay)
Wanna be the cool kid
(Uh-huh) 없던 걸로 덮지
(Uh-huh) 새로운 날 떠오른 달, pink or black grid
Roam-um-um-um, roam (yeah, yeah, yeah)
기다려왔던 (yeah, yeah, yeah)
준비가 되면 떠오를 거야, kill it to the daylight
Go, go, let us put on a show, show
다른 걸 원해 more, more
금기를 깨고 roll, roll
We don't stop until the sun goes up
다 내려놓고 춤을 춰
No way you can make us stop
We're about to paint the town (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
Paint the town (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
Paint the town (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
You can't stop us, just we, 우릴 멈출 수는 없어
We'll taking to the moon, 달의 눈을 가리면
시작된 eclipse, 12개의 눈이 널 가릴지도 몰라
답은 없어 just watch it (uh-huh)
우린 계속 달릴 거야, don't touch it (don't, don't)
We ain't gotta East of Eden, so keep it
If you gon' ball with us, then just sweep it
Like a wolf to the moon, 저 달이 곧 떠오르면 (come on)
Pam-pa-pam, we'rе devilous
우린 curious, so don't mess with us (yeah)
Go, go, let us put on a show, show
다른 걸 원해 morе, more
금기를 깨고 roll, roll (roar)
We don't stop until the sun goes up
다 내려놓고 춤을 춰
No way you can make us stop (ah)
We're about to paint the town, let's go (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
Paint the town (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
Paint the town (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
You can't stop us, just we, 우릴 멈출 수는 없어
We'll taking to the moon, 달의 눈을 가리면
시작된 eclipse, it's over, 우릴 다시 가릴지 몰라
12개의 다른 문을 열어놔 (let me in just, baby)
다시 우린 마주하게 될 거야
Open your eyes, is it moon or the sky? (Oh, no)
And living is wise, if you never ever think twice
You break it, you make it
You kill it, you want it
You own it, you show it
Oh-whoa, let's go
We're about to paint the town
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na (ra-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta)
You can't stop us, just we, 우릴 멈출 수는 없어
Doja never fails to disappoint ❤
