The Time Is Now
Moloko Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You're a breath of fresh air to me
I am empty
So tell me you care for me
You're the first thing
And the last thing on my mind
In your arms I feel
Sunshine
All the promise
A daydream yet to come
Time is upon us
Oh but the night is young
Flowers blossom
In the wintertime
In your arms I feel
Sunshine
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment last
You may find yourself
Out on a limb for me
Could you accept it as
A part of your destiny?
I give all I have
But it's not enough
And my patience's all shot
So I'm calling your bluff
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment last
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment last
And we gave it time
All eyes are on the clock
Time takes too much time
Please make the waiting stop
And the atmosphere is charged
In you I trust
And I feel no fear as I
Do as I must
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment last
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment last
Tempted by fate
And I won't hesitate
The time is now
And I can't blame it
I been in it too long
The time is now
And the time has gone
Let's make this moment last
And the night is young
The time is now
Let's make this moment last
Give up yourself unto the moment
The time is now
Give up yourself unto the moment
Let's make this moment, last
The lyrics to Moloko's song The Time Is Now are about the power of love and the moment when two people finally connect. The singer describes their partner as their last breath, meaning that they are the most important person in their life. The partner is also compared to a breath of fresh air, indicating that they bring new life and energy to the singer's world. The singer is empty without the love of their partner and asks them to show that they care.
The chorus reinforces the importance of the moment, urging the listener to give themselves up to it and make it last. The promise of a daydream yet to come suggests that the future is full of possibilities and potential, while the night is young, indicating that there is still plenty of time to explore them. The idea of flowers blossoming in wintertime suggests that even in the darkest hours, there is always hope, and the love of the partner brings sunshine into the singer's life.
The bridge of the song introduces a note of uncertainty, questioning whether the partner would be willing to take a risk and accept the singer's needs as a part of their destiny. The singer is willing to give all they have, but fears it may not be enough, and that their patience is running out. Nevertheless, the chorus reaffirms the importance of the moment and the need to seize it.

IMO, this song is Moloko's masterpiece . Those 4 little piano notes starting after the middle of the song and running softly to the end are totally modifying the mood making it melancholic . It's pure genius .

I think that for most of songs, they make me long for things I haven’t even experienced
@jrag1000

This was the first CD single that my first boyf/first love, ever bought me in the Spring of 2000. I was 17 at the the time, then I blinked and I was 39 - the time really is NOW, it's all we have. This still sounds like it was released just yesterday, a classic, elegant piece, beautifully timeless, then and now...♡

I can only agree with that, also exactly what it concerns with the age.
