If It All Comes Down To You
Anekdoten Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We could be anything
So let′s try our luck, down at the spin and win
Haven't seen you for long
Heaven knows where you have gone
Would the words still ring true?

Did you see what I saw?
Did you hear wherever the call was coming from?
Would your mind be set free
Where the river meets the sea?
Would it all come too true
If it all came down to you?

Where would you dare to go?
What would you dare to know
If it all comes down to you?

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Anekdoten's "If It All Comes Down to You" seem to speak about the idea of chance, fate and destiny. The song moves to tell the story of two people who could be anything, but haven't seen each other for a long time. The singer prompts his unknown partner to try their luck at the "spin and win." Here, one can interpret the "spin and win" as a metaphor for the game of life, urging the subject of the song to take a chance and take control of their destiny. The line, "heaven knows where you have gone," suggests that the singer hasn't been able to find his long lost partner, leaving their connection to fate and destiny.

The second verse delves deeper into the idea of fate and free will. The singer asks his partner if they would be able to recognize the call of fate, wherever it may come from. The lines, "would your mind be set free, where the river meets the sea," shows the listener how the possibilities are endless but ultimately depend on the choices one makes. The chorus then asks the listener to question themselves, where would they dare to go and what would they dare to know if it all comes down to just them.

Overall, the message behind "If It All Comes Down to You" asserts the importance of taking risks and seizing opportunities, but also accepting the idea that fate might play a role in our lives.

I’m not a musician but my father was and my son is & I’ve enjoyed all spectrum of rock music since first hearing ‘ hocus pocus ‘ , ‘ silver machine ‘ , ‘ I know what I like in your wardrobe ‘ etc when I was 9 years old - had this album received more daylight in the uk , I can’t help believe at least folks born in the 1960s or early 70s would’ve made it a massive success in sales. Even without being household names , this album is still a Massive Success . A joy. A lift. It is Superb. I lLove it - Thankyou so much Anekdoten ❤️🇨🇳from wessexshire ( near Stonehenge & Bournemouth) May the Gods continue to Bless You 😀
