I'm not saying every single car from the 80s was ugly, I'm just saying aside from the really iconic stuff, most mainstream cars back them were genetic or ugly. By that I mean back then, a Ford sedan was just meh, now, the current fusion looks great. It's examples like that which describe what I'm saying. What I guess we could refer to as your typical normal people brands, Toyota, Ford, Honda etc while they made some decent looking cars, like Honda in the late 80s/early 90s with the original nsx, or ford with the iconic foxbody, aside from those, most cars back then were just kinda generic.

For example, I prefer a ‘97 Camry much more to a new one, even if it doesn’t make sense to you. I see what you mean, and I certainly don’t think it’s wrong, but the way your original comment was put together was a bit off. I do agree tho that there’s plenty of boring/ugly cars back then, but also now.
