To all the Celtic children who end up here...I sincerley hope you know that our history is very ancient - far more established then the mainstream would have us believe! We can't have Celtic nations uniting - that would be a political disaster for the dudes in power currently! But you should know, we are EVERYWHERE now, and whether you are from Northern Spain, Northern Italy, France, Southern Germany, Britain or Ireland there is a connection there that spans a ridiculous time span - we are all drawn to the same music, same outlook, same general energy - and I hope this gives you comfort! This is obviously not to say we are special - all peoples in this world are amazing but the Celtic story has definitley been surpressed and I, for one, mean to tell it to the whole world! So let me raise a glass to all the heroic, warrior-poet nations that our Fathers and Mothers founded! May you all speak truly, live fully and die heroically ! xxxx

'Irish Celts' are foreign invaders to the land. The native people were pictish and Brythonic. The Gaels were foreign invaders. The Scoti (the tribe who eventually gave Scotland their name came from Dalriada in County Antrim in modern Northern Ireland and we're not Celtic but pictish and Brythonic) the last battle between the indiginous peoples took place in Moira, Ulster between Picts, Dalriadans and Norse Gael mercenaries against invading Gaels. Ireland was never united until the Norman conquest. Ps Germans and French are not Celtic either the Germanic tribes wiped them out millennia ago and the Gauls left France under the Romans then the Franks

Thank you for uploading a wonderful piece that captures the spirit of O Sullivan Beare . In 1602 the long march of OโSullivan Beare was a daring mission to escape invading English forces and try to seek help from Irish clans further north . The OโSullivans had 400 soldiers to protect 600 women, children, and servants who faced certain death on this dangerous march of 500 km. . Only 35 of them entered Leitrim Castle. After 14 days most had fallen to their enemies, hunger and exposure OโRourke sheltered OโSullivan Beare and his band until he was able to help them obtain passage to Spain. In Spain, OโSullivan was greeted by King Felipe III and was treated as a royal prince.

I first saw the Chieftains in the Ulster Hall in the 1970s. Army came into the back and Paddy Malone welcomed them. I've loved the music ever since this one of the few good memories of those years. Another favourite is samhain samhain

My stepmother who passed away in may of last year was a Sullivan... She was descended of the famous American Civil War photographer, Timothy O'Sullivan. I play this in her sainted memory. Golden wings to you, mum!!!
