Paint It Black
The Rolling Stones Lyrics

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

I see a line of cars and they're all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a new born baby, it just happens every day

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door, I must have it painted black
Maybe then I'll fade away and not have to face the facts
It's not easy facing up, when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you

If I look hard enough into the settin' sun
My love will laugh with me before the mornin' comes

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore, I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm

I wanna see it painted, painted black
Black as night, black as coal
I wanna see the sun blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted, painted black
Yeah

Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm
Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm

Blotted out from the sky
I wanna see it painted, painted, painted
Painted black, yeah

When I was going through an insanely rough opiate withdrawal all I could think of was this song. It really helped get me through it. I ended up using alcohol to cope, became an alcoholic, started listening to this and really feeling it even more. Now nearly 8 months later and completely sober except weed and cigarettes. Cigs are next. Amazing song, thanks for reading

@rick it has nothing to do with stopping the cravings for being high. At all. It’s because you feel so shitty and withdrawn that you just want to feel a little good and sometimes getting drunk will do just that. But of course it can and most of the time will make it much, much worse. It also helps you sleep, I went 6 days without sleeping during withdrawal.

can you please tell me why so many drug addicts use alcohol when they are stopping their usage of drugs?? Ive seen it and heared about it so many times but ive never understood how being drunk would stop you from wanting tonbe high? Can you please explain the logic from the pov of someone who has knowledge of what its like to be addicted to drugs??

Mercury

Y'know, this sounds really similar to my Dad's past. He was on drugs for awhile while I was in foster care, and the only things that got him out of his addiction were music and my stepmom. When he transitioned he changed his name to Lyric in homage to music, because it saved his life.
