The Glorious Nosebleed
Circa Survive Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Look how high I'm jumping from;
You'll never make it.
I know what it feels like,
Giving into something you don't understand.
Walk into the light.
This sort of thing gets you out of mind right before impact.
Calcium waste, litter and falling like icicles.
Guess who's next?
You're just as guilty as them.
The opening lyrics of Circa Survive's song The Glorious Nosebleed delve into the topic of manipulation and how one person can force another to do something they don't necessarily want to do. The line "forced, we forced feeding you lines" speaks to the idea that someone is being coerced into doing or saying something that they don't truly believe. The following line, "look how high I'm jumping from; you'll never make it" creates a sense of hopelessness and despair as the person being manipulated is forced to take a risk that they may not be able to handle. The analogy of jumping from a great height creates a physical manifestation of the mental stress that comes with being manipulated into doing something that could potentially harm oneself.
The next set of lyrics, "walk into the light. This sort of thing gets you out of mind right before impact" paints an image of a person nearing their breaking point. They are so close to giving in to whatever they are being manipulated to do, that they can see their own demise happening before their eyes. The use of the words "calcium waste" and "falling like icicles" further emphasizes the destructive nature of what is being asked of them. The final line "you're just as guilty as them" could be directed towards the person being manipulated as well as the manipulator. By allowing themselves to be swayed into doing something they don't want to do, they are just as complicit in the harm that will come from their actions.

I've listened to every single Circa Albums many times and this is my 2nd favorite, but nothing beats Blue Sky Noise for me, I have every track on that album saved like It truly impacted my life and hit everything they did on these first 2 albums with more creativity and cleaner production, Juturna is absolutely amazing tho
@russell_O.S.
If you’re gonna call this the greatest album of all time, I won’t fuckin argue that one! BUT it would make sense that Appendage EP also gets lumped into the “same album,” if you know what I mean
@3luew0rld77
