not a lot just forever
AdriAnne Lenker Lyrics

A smile you bring to me
To your joy a tether
Not a lot, just forever
Intertwine some together
Like the rock bears the weather
Not a lot, just forever
My dog barks wildly
To protect my infancy
From my ex-believer
And I try to calm the wolf
To remind her I am both
Still she tears at my sweater
Not a lot, just forever
Intertwine some together
As the ram sheds her feather
Not a lot, just forever
And your dearest fantasy
Is to grow a baby in me
I could be a good mother
And I wanna be your wife
So I hold you to my knife
And I steal your letter
Not a lot, just forever
Intertwine some together
As the rock bears the weather
Not a lot, just forever
So I bash around the house
And the poison stains my mouth
She comes, I let her
And we share a paradise
When I roll them once or twice
Can't get much better
Not a lot, just forever
Intertwine some together
As the rock bears the weather
Not a lot, just forever
Not a lot, just forever
Intertwine some together
As the ram bears her feathers
Not a lot, just forever
The lyrics to AdriAnne Lenker's song "not a lot just forever" are filled with vivid imagery and metaphorical language that describe a tender, intimate connection between two people. The song's opening lines, "Through your eyes I see, a smile you bring to me, to your joy a tether," suggest that the singer feels a sense of comfort and security in the presence of her partner. The idea of a "tether" suggests that the singer relies on her partner for emotional support or stability.
The chorus of the song repeats the line, "not a lot, just forever," which seems to reflect the singer's desire for a long-lasting, timeless connection with her partner. The lines "Intertwine some together, like the rock bears the weather" and "As the ram sheds her feather" use natural imagery to emphasize the durability of the relationship. The "rock" and "ram" are both strong, resilient symbols, suggesting that the singer wants her bond with her partner to endure the tests of time and adversity.
The verse about the singer's dog barking at her "ex-believer" and the struggle to calm the "wolf" within herself adds some darker undertones to the song. The metaphorical language suggests that the singer is grappling with some inner turmoil or pain, but her partner provides a source of comfort and stability in the midst of it.

Through your eyes I see
I see the world as you see it
A smile you bring to me
You make me happy
To your joy a tether
I am connected to your happiness
Not a lot, just forever
I don't need much, just forever
Intertwine some together
Let's entwine ourselves together
Like the rock bears the weather
Let's be strong like a rock and weather any challenges we face
My dog barks wildly
My dog is protective over me
To protect my infancy
To keep me safe from harm
From my ex-believer
From someone who used to believe in something but no longer does
And I try to calm the wolf
I try to calm my fear and aggression
To remind her I am both
To remind myself that I have both good and bad qualities
Still she tears at my sweater
But sometimes my fear and aggression still cause harm
And your dearest fantasy
Your greatest desire
Is to grow a baby in me
Is to have a child with me
I could be a good mother
I believe I could be a good parent
And I wanna be your wife
I want to marry you
So I hold you to my knife
I cling to you tightly
And I steal your letter
I take something from you
So I bash around the house
I act recklessly
And the poison stains my mouth
My actions have negative consequences
She comes, I let her
I allow my fear and aggression to take over
And we share a paradise
But sometimes that leads to moments of happiness
When I roll them once or twice
When I smoke drugs
Can't get much better
I feel content in the moment
As the ram bears her feathers
Let's be strong like a ram and weather any challenges we face
Not a lot, just forever
I don't need much, just forever
Intertwine some together
Let's entwine ourselves together
As the rock bears the weather
Let's be strong like a rock and weather any challenges we face
Not a lot, just forever
I don't need much, just forever

For the other women,
For all the first love,
For all the mums and the daughters,
For the sweethearts that yearn for love
For the dreamers that give love, expecting some back,
For the little sisters,
From the mother figures,
For the bigger sisters,
For those ones that want a simple and paceful life,
For the troubled ones.

This might be random as hell but my girlfriend died 15 days ago due to a car crash in her home country, i promised her we would get married and have kids and live happy, she was perfect, a loving, kind hearted, beautiful girl who only wanted the best for me, the worst part is i cant even see her grave since im broke and dont have a passport, so far the only thing comforting me is these songs, so thank you adrianne lenker for making these
