I Can Dream Can't I?
The Andrews Sisters Lyrics

(Dream on, dream on)

I can see
No matter how near you'll be
You'll never belong to me
But I can dream, can't I?
Can't I pretend that I'm locked
In the bend of your embrace?
For dreams are just like wine
And I am drunk with mine

I'm aware
My heart is a sad affair
There's much disillusion there
But I can dream, can't I?
Can't I adore you
Although we are oceans apart?
I can't make you open your heart
But I can dream, can't I?

I'm aware
My heart is a sad affair
There's much disillusion there
But I can dream, can't I?
Can't I adore you
Although we are oceans apart?
I can't make you open your heart
But I can dream, can't I?

(Dream on, dream on, dream on)
I can dream, can't I?

I remember the AndrewsSisters from when I was a very young child. I never forgot them. Good memories!

Vicki Kaffenberger

I recently learned this was my dad’s favorite song, according to his senior year high school memory book (1951). He and my mother met in high school, and I might assume he was thinking of her when he heard this song.

This song is perfectly lovely and sad. It reminds me of my Nana because she loved The Andrews Sisters.

This is just Patty. This was the only song she sang without her sisters.

@chucksfish I too loved the sisters at that time. The Good Old Days!

@Thomas Trumble I always thought Patty sang solo on this one. At the time their was a lot of controversy about her and the sisters breaking up. It was publicized info that she dubbed in the background with her own recorded voice. this was reported by many DJ's at that time, I. was an avid fan of the sisters during the war. A station reported this song was not allowed to be played for a number of years due to legal entanglements with this group, have no idea if that was true.
