Summoning
Saruman

[1. Sample]
Saruman come forth.

[2. Sample]
I am Saruman the white, Saruman of many colours.

[3. Sample]
Middle days are passing,
younger days ....
The nine have come forth again

[4. Sample]
A new power is rising,
the victory is at hand and there will be rich reward for thoser who aid it.

[5. Sample]
By night or day. Are we not both members of a high and ancient order (most
excellent in Middle Earth).

[6. Sample]
The friedship of Saruman and the power of Orthanc (can not be lightly thrown aside),
you have won a battle but not a war.

[7. Sample]
Will you have peace with me. And all the aid that my knowledge,
founded in long years can bring.

[8. Sample]
Good days, come back by night or day

Overall Meaning

The song Saruman by Summoning delves into the character of Saruman from the Lord of the Rings novels. The samples used in the song borrow heavily from the books and showcase the different aspects of Saruman's personality. In the opening samples, Saruman is introduced as the white wizard and then proceeds to identify himself as a wizard of many colors. This duality in his character is further explored in the following samples that talk about the passing of the middle days and the resurgence of the nine.

As the song progresses, we hear a declaration of a new power rising, one that promises a rich reward to those who aid it. This can be interpreted as Saruman's mindset when he defected to the side of Sauron. He saw the victory of Sauron as inevitable and sought to be on the winning side. However, despite his allegiance to Sauron, Saruman still saw himself as a member of an ancient order, and his friendship with the power of Orthanc was not something he was willing to throw aside lightly.

In the final sample, there is a plea for peace and an offer of aid from Saruman, who seems to have realized the futility of his decision to align with Sauron. The song ends on a hopeful note, with a call for good days to return.

I wish the movie had made Saruman of many colors, showing his robe shimmering in the light, flickering the spectrum, reflecting his ambiguous and treacherous nature.. would've been sick as hell. speaking of what should have been used, Summoning could already perform soundtrack duties above and beyond what any other mortal man has forged as far as LOTR BM goes.. for the past 10 years they have erected an unquenchable blaze deep within my essence, unlike most any other band out there.
