Wow is in the gaming business said to be the best of the best at many things, one of those things is music. Songs like invincible that evoke such emotion without any context that make people cry is a key example. In my opinion, when scoring a movie rarely is it ever a good idea to step away from doing it classically, with an orchestral score, especially when doing something thats high fantasy. So using dubstep in the trailers, probably one of the worst choices of music possible to ever use in a movie in general, is completely baffling. Music for a movie is written in the later stages so that it can fit with what was shot. Using dubstep a song thats all beat no breaks means that the editing will favor a more jump cutty style, and less long shots. Quick shots are fine in small doses, but movies like Taken 3 are said to be some of the worst ever made for a reason- its used to much. If dubstep were solely used throughout a movie it would result in more and more quicker shots and thus detract from the overall product, not even mentioning it in 99% of movies not fitting any scene save a nightclub scene or 2. Whoever in marketing decided to put in dubstep rather than shell out the cash for some good trailer music (there are entire companies that do this, and even ones that specialize in making up languages to be used for chorus sections) instead they went with some of the worst trailer music i have ever heard. And look at that the result is lots of qucik jump cuts and cut aways in the trailers to fit the awful beat.

I really enjoyed this movie. For someone who knows nothing about the game it did a good job explaining everything and most movies suck at that. Also the score is amazing.

@Violet Personally I enjoyed the movie, I've been playing warcraft for a long while and read some of the books, I just treat the movie as non-canon to the games story, another way to look at it is multiverses are a thing in Warcraft (wishy washy demon shit being ignore i think). At this part of the story, Garona is considered Half-human it wasn't until much later it was learned that she was half draenei.

I know this comment is 4 years old but the wow community that knows about the lore absolutely hates this movie. So many things in this movie were not right lore-wise, useless romance connection scenes, changes to lore that were terrible, I could go on. My dad and I hate watch this movie because of how bad it is. We’ve been playing wow since it came out, and literally almost every time we watch it (we’ve watched it upwards of 20 times) we find something new that they got wrong, something that they added for the sake of a romance (that isn’t in the game lore) like Lothars son isn’t even in the story. All the sob scenes with Lothar are non existent in the story. He doesn’t even have a son in the game. Garona is actually half Draenei, not half human, yet they made her half human. Again, I could go on forever. They really messed up. This movie did not get good rep, and it is the reason they are not doing another warcraft movie (besides budget). They knew how terrible it was received by warcraft fans who know the story. I remember talking to my dad about how if someone were to watch this movie, then go play the game and learn the lore, it would be so confusing because of how much they changed for the movie. This movie honestly ruins the experience for anyone who is looking to get into world of warcraft. Yeah you get the general idea for the legion, what’s happening with medivh was right, but there was more wrong than right for the story. Made me sad.

breaks me that we'll never see another film, I know the first was hit or miss, but maybe some of these sometimes mediocre game movies need sequels to really shine their true vision, its hard doing a game with such expansive lore like warcraft in just one film

Very interesting that you can tell the fight between the both sides of the music tune. 0:00 - 0:35 Introducing the Horde: Deep, bad and cruel sounding tunes. You can hear that the horde will come without mercy. At the end of the first theme ( which repeats itself twice) you can hear a dissonant tone which represents the despair the horde have because they have to act like this because their land is dying and they can nothing but follow their leader Gul´Dan through the fel-portal to azeroth.

Then the music tune switches to a higher version of itself ( 0:36 - 0:46): Introducing the Human "army" of Azeroth who must defend theirselves in existential fears.
0:51- 1:32: Fights between both, ins and looses on both sides, repeating the theme of the horde but with high tone accents ( Horde fights against HUman army but the Horde is stronger at first)
1:33 The culmination: The Last fight!, anger and strong emotions blast. Very heavy tension until it explodes

I LOVED it! It sounds like the soundtrack from the games, but, at the same time, has Djwadi's style and signature. I love his score for Clash of Titans and this song has some resemblance to it. I just wish it was longer, but the album version is probably going to be longer.

A slightly improved version with more modernized controls and such and other nifty features would be very welcome if done well in my opinion.

My god it must be amazing to have a natural born talent to "see" a dozen different notes from a dozen different instruments in their individual octaves floating in the air all in unison as you dream up an entire movie soundtrack and make them come alive. Seriously, how much of a genius do you have to be to not only understand each instruments sound, but in different otaves, for every single instrument in an orchestra, and then to blend them all together in your head first before writing them all down and like magic it just happens.
