Moon River
Louis Armstrong Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end, waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Louis Armstrong And The All Stars's song, "Moon River," convey a feeling of endless possibility and adventure. With the first line, "Moon river, wider than a mile," the singer describes the vastness of the world and how small they are compared to it. The next line, "I'm crossing you in style some day," shows a determination to explore and experience the world on their own terms, with style and grace. The lyrics suggest that the person is seeking a dream that may be elusive, but they are willing to follow it wherever it takes them, as long as they have their dream maker with them.

The second stanza introduces another person, described as a "huckleberry friend," and portrays them as two drifters ready to explore the world together. These two individuals share a sense of curiosity and a desire to see the world, including all the opportunities and challenges it holds. The lyrics are particularly memorable for their sense of optimism, as they depict a world full of possibility and adventure just waiting for those who are willing to take a chance.

" Rio de luna "

Rio de luna, más ancho que una milla
Voy a cruzar contigo en estilo algún día
Viejo creador de sueños, tu rompe corazones
A donde sea que vayas, voy a tu camino.

Dos vagabundos, para ver el mundo
Hay un montón de mundo para ver
Estamos tras el mismo final de arcoíris,
esperando alrededor de la curva
Mi amigo arándano, rio de luna, y yo.

You guys can make it come back if you ask Radio stations to start playing it again. It is very good to hear young people say good things about this type of music. I have 5 grandchildren and I hope they all grow up and listen to this type of music. I am inspired by all the good young people of today. The problem is the bad ones get all the publicity and ruin it for all. May God bless you guys.

The one and only, the great Louis. All the words in the world are not enough to describe his sound.
