All My Tears
Ane Brun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I go, don't cry for me
In my Father's arms I'll be
The wounds this world left on my soul
Will all be healed and I'll be whole
Sun and moon will be replaced with the light of Jesus' face
And I will not be ashamed for my Savior knows my name

It don't matter where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter, anywhere I lay
All my tears be washed away

Gold and silver blind the eye
Temporary riches lie
Come and eat from Heaven's store
Come and drink and thirst no more
So weep not for me, my friend, when my time below does end
For my life belongs to Him, who will raise the dead again

It don't matter where you bury me
I'll be home and I'll be free
It don't matter, anywhere I lay
All my tears be washed away
All my tears be washed away

Overall Meaning

The first verse of Ane Brun's song "All My Tears" talks about death and the afterlife. The singer says that when they die, they don't want anyone to cry for them, because they will be in their Father's (i.e. God's) arms. They will be healed of the wounds they suffered during their lifetime, and they will be reunited with God. The second half of the verse makes a reference to a Biblical concept, namely the idea that in heaven, there will be no need for the sun and moon because God's light will be enough illumination. The singer is not ashamed of their faith, and they believe that God knows them by name, which means they will be welcomed into heaven.

The second verse of the song talks about the singer's anticipation of death. They suggest that it doesn't matter where they are buried because they will be at home and free in heaven. The phrase "home" here is a metaphor for heaven - a place of safety and comfort where one truly belongs. The singer believes that in heaven, they will be free from their earthly troubles and that all their tears will be washed away. The third and final stanza explains that material wealth is pointless because in heaven, there is a much greater treasure available. This treasure is referred to as "Heaven's store", which is essentially a metaphor for God's kingdom. It is a place where everyone can eat and drink and their thirst will be forever quenched. The singer also reassures their loved ones that they don't have to mourn their death because their life belongs to God, who has the power to raise the dead once again.

@@boniface23 (A bit from what i’ve been through, hope this brings Life to somebody. I’m a former atheist, and I respect everyone)

God's Love reaches you, sooner or later, hurting or not. We choose how it will be.

There is no way to explain God by the logic of science, because God is beyond this logic, it was God who created this logic. God is beyond the entire Universe. God is beyond “existence”. God is our Father, and a Father who will never give up on his children.

The pain of going through something bad just to return to God is painful, but it is an insignificant pain when compared to the pain of an eternity away from God, our Father, far from His embraces, after death.

proof that the Father never gives up on His sons and daughters is that, even after human beings chose to disobey God, leaving the Garden of Eden with the first sin and giving way to the emergence of death, pain and suffering, God still decided to come in the form of Christ to die in our place and, with Blood, buy our “way” back home, instead of leaving us burning eternally away from our Heavenly Home, where we all came from.

I respect you, regardless of how you understand my words, but I wanted to leave a story that can help many, just as it saved my life. Just wish ya Have a good day . Remember, believe you or not, Heaven loves and wants you back Home!!

It's so depressing how much he wants everything in life, but not the life itself

It's funny, one of the first times we see him cry is because he didn't die.

@rubenfratean3256

Deeper and more accurate: bc he lived
