Run Me Out
Zola Jesus Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You that I'm tired
You know that I'm ill
But it don't matter 'cause
I know that you will
Run me out again
The lyrics in Zola Jesus's song Run Me Out seem to be speaking to a situation where the singer is feeling exhausted and unwell, but is resigned to the fact that the other person in the situation is going to continue to push them past their limits. The repeated pleading of "run me out again" suggests a certain amount of desperation on the part of the singer - they feel like they can't escape the situation, and they're so worn down that they don't even have the energy to resist anymore.
The use of the word "again" implies that this isn't the first time this has happened - the singer has been pushed to their breaking point before and been forced to flee. Despite this, they seem to have given up on the possibility of things changing - the line "it don't matter 'cause I know that you will" suggests that they expect the other person to keep pushing them no matter what they do. Overall, the lyrics in Run Me Out tap into a deep feeling of exhaustion and hopelessness, painting a picture of someone who feels powerless and trapped in their own life.

Run me out again
Push me away and make me leave once more
You that I'm tired
You are aware that I am exhausted and drained
You know that I'm ill
You are aware that I am physically or mentally unwell
But it don't matter 'cause
But it does not make a difference because
I know that you will
I am certain that you will still push me away

I know it annoys some people to see so many comments about shows/movies cluttering the comments, but I'm just grateful to the sound engineers and production staff who know the perfect songs to use for certain scenes and expose us to great music we would've never discovered otherwise.

Blackbyrd Exactly. Music supervisors don't get enough credit. And i don't understand why people who find music through shows and movies get so much hate. What's wrong with that ? I'm pretty the sure the bands couldn't be happier about that.
