In addition to recording his albums, Yankovic has written and starred in his own film, UHF, and his own television show, The Weird Al Show, and directed music videos for himself and other artists including Ben Folds, Hanson, the Black Crowes and The Presidents of the United States of America. He has also made guest appearances on many television shows, in addition to starring in his own Al TV specials.
Though parodies earned him his fame, Yankovic has recorded a greater number of humorous songs with original tunes. Some of these pieces are pastiches (or style parodies), where he chooses a band's entire body of work to emulate rather than any single hit, although Yankovic has many completely original pieces. Most of his albums include a medley which juxtaposes the choruses of various songs in a polka style to accordion music.
Due to his popularity, he has been credited with several songs that are not actually his. A full list of every song he has ever actually done, including the live-only songs, can be found at the Al Songs website. Similarly, a comprehensive list of songs incorrectly credited to him can be found at The Not Al Page.
In 2006, Al recorded the song "You're Pitiful". However, while James Blunt gave his blessing for the parody of his song, "You're Beautiful", Blunt's label Atlantic Records was opposed to it. Though parodies are protected legally, the issue had become "more of a political matter than a legal matter", according to Al, so he decided to not put the song on his next album. Instead, he offered it as a free download from his site.
His latest album, "Straight Outta Lynwood", was released September 26th, 2006. Its first released single, "Don't Download This Song", was made available as a free download on August 21, 2006. The animated video for the track and a link to downloadable MP3 is available at dontdownloadthissong.com. Among other tracks, the album includes parodies of Green Day, Usher, R. Kelly, and Chamillionaire. Chamillionaire's "Ridin' Dirty" is parodied as "White and Nerdy", the second released single from the new album. This single has thus far climbed as far as #9 on the Billboard Singles chart, eclipsing "Eat It" as Al's highest charting single (which went as high as #12).

You Make Me
"Weird Al" Yankovic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You make me do the limbo
You make me want to buy a Slurpee at the mall
You make me watch the Gong Show
There's really something kinda strange about you, baby,
But I can't exactly seem to put my finger on it
You make me
You make me
That's what you do to me
You make me want to hide a weasel in my shorts
You make me want to phone home
You make me want to write a dozen book reports
Then pack myself in Styrofoam
Sometimes you make me want to build a model of the Eiffel Tower out of Belgian waffles
You make me
You make me
You make me
That's what you do to me
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what, what you do to me
You make me want to hang out in a trailer park
Then take my hamster to the beach
You make me want to do my laundry in the dark
And use a recommended bleach
When I'm with you I don't know whether I should study neurosurgery
Or go to see the Care Bears movie
You make me
You make me
You make me
That's what you do to me
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what, what you do to me
That's what you do to me
That's what you do to me
That's what you do to me
You make me want to break the laws of time and space
You make me want to eat pork
You make me want to staple bagels to my face
Then remove 'em with a pitchfork
You know there's something quite unusual about you
But I can't exactly seem to put my finger on it
You make me
You make me
You make me
That's what you do to me
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what, what you do to me
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do-do-do-do-do to me
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do
(You make me) That's what you do to me
In "You Make Me," "Weird Al" Yankovic sings about a person who has a strange and unpredictable effect on him. The lyrics are a playful and exaggerated way to express his feelings and reactions towards this person. He imagines doing absurd things like slamming his head against a wall or building an Eiffel Tower out of Belgian waffles when he's with this person. He also mentions wanting to do things like hide a weasel in his shorts, write a dozen book reports or hang out in a trailer park, things that he wouldn't normally do. While there is no specific person or situation mentioned, the lyrics suggest that this person has some sort of power over him that he can't quite explain.
The song is a humorous take on infatuation and the way it can make people act irrationally. The seemingly random and funny things that Yankovic mentions doing are a reflection of his exaggerated emotional response to this person. The phrase "You make me" is repeated throughout the song to emphasize the impact this person has on him.
Overall, "You Make Me" is a lighthearted and humorous song that captures the feeling of being infatuated with someone and the irrational things it can make you want to do.
