Ratzinger was the creative force behind Wumpscut, occasionally employing the help of others as guest artists. Ratzinger cites the influence of such bands as Leæther Strip as his reason for making the transfer from DJing to recording music.
The release of the song "Soylent Green", which is named after the 1973 movie and also contains audio samples from the German dubbed version, first attracted attention to Wumpscut. Since its release in 1993, it has become a frequently played song at events and clubs in the gothic and industrial subcultures and its associated splinter groups, both in Germany and the United States.
So far Ratzinger has published numerous recordings and remixes for other artists. Wumpscut is also very well known for elaborate box set releases including limited versions of a CD or LP release in a box with additional and often also limited bonus material (bonus tracks, energy drinks, posters, pins, stickers, bags, flags, etc.). Wumpscut albums are reissued regularly with variant artworks and occasionally bonus tracks. Standalone merchandise is also available such as caps, mugs, etc.

War
:Wumpscut: Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We didn't remember it
A long time forgotten
There suddenly was war
And suddenly there was war
Our children are dead
Burnt in the ruins
War
And suddenly there was war
And the mothers, they screamed
For revenge and reprisals
For another war
And suddenly and suddenly
And suddenly there was war
With spoiling and death
And you fight alone
If there's another war
Whole life is war
And whole life is pain
And you will fight alone
In your personal war
This is war
War
The lyrics of the song "War" by :Wumpscut: are pretty straightforward, yet they are thought-provoking and evocative. The song starts by stating that "suddenly there was war," signifying that no one saw it coming or was prepared for it. The line "We didn't remember it" could suggest that the past wars were forgotten or ignored, and the countries became complacent. The notion of the war's suddenness may also indicate an attack or invasion, which caught the people off-guard.
In the second verse, the lyrics become more poignant as children have died, and the visual one can get is of a ruined and battered city. The lines, "Burnt in the ruins / That were left by war" emphasize the aftermath of the destruction that is caused by wars. It is a melancholic reminder of what the price of war is.
The third verse deals with the consequences of the war, and individual's rage and anger. The mothers in the line "And the mothers, they screamed / For revenge and reprisals" want reparations for the losses they have suffered, and their calls incite another war.
The song ends with the message that once a war begins, it doesn't end, and it becomes a personal battle. The repetition of the lines "And you fight alone / If there's another war / Whole life is war / And whole life is pain" reinforce this idea of the war never-ending.
