O Sole Mio
[Classical Chillout Platinum] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole,
n'aria serena doppo na tempesta!
Pe' ll'aria fresca pare gia' na festa...
Che bella cosa na jurnata 'e sole.

Ma n'atu sole
cchiu' bello, oi ne'.
'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
‘o sole, ‘o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
sta 'nfronte a te!

Lùcene 'e llastre d'a fenesta toia;
'na lavannara canta e se ne vanta
e pe' tramente torce, spanne e canta
lùcene 'e llastre d'a fenesta toia.

Ma n'atu sole
cchiu' bello, oi ne'.
'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
‘o sole, ‘o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
sta 'nfronte a te!

Quanno fa notte e 'o sole
se ne scenne,
me vene quase 'na malincunia;
sotto 'a fenesta toia restarria
quanno fa notte e 'o sole
se ne scenne.

Ma n'atu sole
cchiu' bello, oi ne'.
'o sole mio
sta 'nfronte a te!
‘o sole, ‘o sole mio

sta 'nfronte a te!
sta 'nfronte a te!

Overall Meaning

"O Sole Mio" is a classic Italian song that celebrates the beauty of a sunny day. The first stanza describes the joyous feeling of a clear day after a stormy one. The second stanza compares the beauty of the day to the beauty of the person the singer is addressing, saying that "another sun" is not as beautiful as the "sun" that is in front of them. The third stanza describes the melancholy feeling that comes when day turns to night and the sun disappears, but the singer would still choose to stay under the person's window, rather than leave.

The song is beautifully written and captures the essence of Italian culture and the romantic nature of the language. It has been performed by many famous singers, and its popularity remains strong even today. The song has become an anthem of sorts for Italy, and its popularity has spread throughout the world.
