Blade
[attack] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of
Things I've seen will chase me
To the grave

I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of
Over there

Things that I've seen
Will chase me to the grave
Led with your hands tied
Fetters and flies

You stumble the dunes
Complain to the moon
Backs to the wheel
There's granite to shove

Take it
They give it
So rivet for rivet
I will pilfer my family a bulletproof love

How does it feel
The weight of the steel?
The weight of the steel
The flat of the blade

How does it feel
To kneel at defeat?
To kneel at defeat
At the choices you make

Hey, hey, hey
I'm not good in a crowd
I got skills I can't speak of

Things I've seen will chase me
To the grave
Backs to the wheel
There's granite to shove

Take it
They give it

And rivet for rivet
I will build for my family a bulletproof love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blade by [attack] convey feelings of isolation and trauma. The singer admits to not being comfortable in crowds and having witnessed things that will haunt them for life. The though of the harrowing experiences they have gone through is so terrifying that they feel it will stay with them even after they die. However, despite these struggles, the singer is determined to fight for their family and build a love that is stronger than any harm the world can do to them.

The repeated phrase “backs to the wheel, there’s granite to shove” echoes the feeling of being stuck between a rock and a hard place, of being forced to face challenges that seem insurmountable. The imagery of stumbling through the dunes at night, only to lament to an empty moon, creates a sense of desolation and despair. The weight of the steel represents the burdens the singer shoulders, while the flat of the blade evokes a sense of danger and vulnerability. Ultimately, the song conveys a message of resilience in the face of adversity, and a determination to build a better life for oneself and their loved ones.

The man that saved Marvel from bankruptcy and the birth of the MCU. Thank you Mr.Snipes

@MrKahlerHahn

Don‘t ruin this film by mentioning that this started the marvel shit we suffer nowadays

@dhz1824

@@MrKahlerHahn For better for worse man. Marvel still produced top quality films amid some lackluster ones. We're all just suffering from super hero fatigue now

@jonathanbirch2022

After Blade came some great Marvel movies like X-men, Spider-Man. That MCU shit doesn’t count

@Pebble_Collector

So he's responsible for some of the most, if not THE most, uninspired filmmaking in cinematic history? Great. Blade is still a great movie. So much so that I didn't even realise Blade was a Marvel character.

@davefarlow

People hate success.

1998 Wesley Snipes saved Marvel . Originally he wanted to do Black Panther but we are thankful he didn't . A real life Black belt actor . Not only did he star but produced a film nobody thought would work and killed it . Marvel should celebrate him while he still here . Give the man his roses. The Godfather of the MCU

@xkee2013

Yes, Y e s and HELL YES!!!!

@robwalsh9843

Movies like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Interview With the Vampire made vampires cool again.

@tnbn55

No, this is years before the Iron-Man/Avengers MCU - which actually saved Marvel. Marvel lost money on Blade, which was marketed as a New Line film.
