Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blade by [attack] convey feelings of isolation and trauma. The singer admits to not being comfortable in crowds and having witnessed things that will haunt them for life. The though of the harrowing experiences they have gone through is so terrifying that they feel it will stay with them even after they die. However, despite these struggles, the singer is determined to fight for their family and build a love that is stronger than any harm the world can do to them.

Most vampires are riffraff that win over humans by brute strength and speed without any actual fighting skill. Blade is a top tier fighter in too many disciplines to count. He's the John Wick of vampire hunters. That, combined with his infinite hate for vampires, makes him an unstoppable killing machine. A vampire spotting him means he spotted them a long time ago before, and thus, their fate is most likely already sealed. No wonder they are utterly terrified of him.

Incorrect. If memory serves me right, Daywalkers were exceptionally weak. Blade originally had all the weaknesses of a vampire and none of their strengths. Yet, he somehow managed to become a vampire hunter as a youngling. It wasn’t until being bit by Morbius that he became immune to sunlight and gained superhuman abilities.

Just got reminded of this scene. Two things to say: 1) That stake uppercut into the mouth and up into the ceiling is still a great smackdown. 2) In 1998 when I was 10 years old and this movie came out on VHS, my dad rented it for himself and wouldn't let me watch it at first. Then he saw the blood rave fight scene. Then he grabbed me from the kitchen and sat me down and said, "this is too cool to let you sit this one out." The only other R-rated movies in the '90s that received that review from my dad and he allowed me to watch with him were the following: Speed and The Matrix. What a time for American action movies.

I love that blade isn't afraid of shit. He takes suppressive fire and doesn't flee for cover, he does not hide, he makes a point of where the bullets came from, and instantly shifts the fight back to them with his own volley of precise hellfire. He doesn't allow himself to get overwhelmed, he makes their advantage that they seemingly had a question in their minds, why wont he run, why wont he flee, can we really beat him, he just keeps coming. I love that relentlessness about him, I resonate with Blade so much. resolve like this is so inspiring.

So it means they will have to hide a lot of his physical inabilities behind trick photography, rapid-fire editing, and CGI. What made the original Blade so cool was that Snipes was able to do his own fight scenes and looked darn good doing it.

I remember sitting in the theater watching it, there were some people who were muttering about the guy fleeing for his life or the vampires. The moment the camera pans up to Blade and the music cuts out, that theater was dead silent. No cheers like you'd get for Thor or Captain America, just complete awe at the awesomeness and perfection that was Wesley Snipes as Blade.

Can remember when this movie was first released, I was merely 4 years old. My old man had hired/rented it from Blockbuster on DVD. I remember walking into the living room to see this scene. The Blood Rave used to freak me out, as did the scene with Pearl. I’m now 27 and still believe this was the rawest, most badass movie Marvel ever produced and easily their best opening scene 😎 Snipes nailed this role…

Certain films have a feeling to them.. a feeling that engulfs you, completely removes you from reality. Even if it's just for minute.. I only felt a few films like this.. BLADE, Jurassic Park, Bad Boys 1, Terminator 2, Predator... I hope the new film feels like this one

My dad took me to see Fight Club when I was a kid..and we left it after to sneak into Blade. Only time we ever did that for fun but I was so happy we did. This movie has stayed with me through the years. This movie was one of the reasons I wanted to get into film. So great. And now as an adult I got to film with Stephen Dorff last year, as I work in the industry now as an adult. Crazy how life comes in full circle when you work towards your goals.

@@crashfan9997 the theatre we went to was one of those theatres that plays more then current movies. It was a smaller family owned theatre. Yeah my dad exposed me to lots of things as a kid and I think because I could handle it. I could clean a fish when I was 6..I tied my own lures, helped him build a fence, tried a cigar. It was the best childhood ever. Made me a real man at a young age.

I remember in the UK in the 90’s and this came out it was Blade fever for years, we all just loved this badass character and loved Snipes from his other movies. He was made for this role 👍 💪

This movie, Blade, was the beginning of the golden days of the superheroes genre.

In fact, people use to forget that Blade is a Marvel character and that Stan Lee was the executive producer of this movie.

X-Men (2000) or Spider-Man (2002) wasn't the first spark. They are excellent movies, none of those three productions has anything to envy the others, but some how we owe the cinematographic marvel universe to Blade.

I love how the camera moves, I like the gritty lighting effects, the dirty setting and the music. Maybe I'm just a 90's kid and that's why, but I love this sort of atmospheric styled movies. LIke the first Underworld; dark in tone with their huge black leather coats and stylised fighting!

Yea Underworld was awesome, too. I love those goth-influenced movies like The Crow. Stuff people forget about and isn’t super popular unless you already know those kind of movies from childhood. That’s why I’m excited for the new Batman. Hopefully it has that gritty feel to it like I think it will.
