While Greek is Nana's native language, she is fluent in 5 languages, and sings in Greek, German, Spanish, French and English, as she is fluent in those languages.
Although I am American, I can speak/read/write some Greek, and some of her Greek songs are my favorites.
Especially Ximeroni (an English spelling of the Greek).
She has the most melodious voice..in any language she sings!

Until today, I only knew this melody as the theme of "The Friendly Giant," a beloved children's show that aired on CBC in Canada from 1958 to 1986. I've never actually heard a recorded version of this. We used to sing this in my grade 6 year (1976). Once a week, one of the teachers would come to our class with a guitar and lead us in singing various folk and pop songs. @isabel lind Grew up in Buffalo. Absolutely loved this show, the Giant and how the chairs were arranged around the fire. Years later I was walking through a department store as a medical resident and Early One Morning was played overhead. I remember being overcome with emotion and recalled where I had heard it and it’s great significance to me. Took me right back. I can image there is a whole generation of Canadians and Border Town Americans with the same emotions. What a wonderful time in my life.

Just started reading Arther Ransome's Coot Club book 5 of the Swallows and Amazons series. The line never leave me never deceive me is mentioned in the book. I kept thinking I know that line. But can't think what song. Plus I kept thinking about Roger Whittaker singing it. And then it dawned on me it's "Early One Morning!"
