Theme From Bilitis
[unknown] Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song "Theme From Bilitis" by Unknown Structure is an instrumental track that conveys a sense of longing and melancholy. The melody is soft and ethereal, with a haunting quality that resonates with the listener. The use of strings creates a sense of beauty and fragility, while the subtle percussion adds a gentle rhythm to the piece.
The title of the song refers to the novel "The Songs of Bilitis" by Pierre Louÿs, which tells the story of a woman's sexual awakening in ancient Greece. The book was controversial when it was first published in the late 19th century due to its explicit content and was later adapted into a play and a film. The song's title suggests a connection to the themes of desire and sensuality explored in the novel.
Overall, "Theme From Bilitis" is a poignant and evocative piece of music that captures the essence of yearning and romanticism. Its dreamy quality makes it a perfect soundtrack for reflection and introspection.

BILITIS 🥰 ... the (!) romantic film of the end 70's. Francis Lai wrote that legendary music, David Hamilton
filmed and photographed the soft focus look and Patty d'Arbanville made her film debut.
Mathieu Carrière, by the way, in a supporting role...😉. Incidentally, Patty used to be the girlfriend and muse of Cat Stevens in the 60s. Among other things, he wrote " My Lady d'Arbanville" for her. Oh... those were the days 😌🤫😇
