Ocean
`Ulalena Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We try but Avalon is always beside me
And I'm falling apart, where is my home?
A riot grows and his eyes opened up
I once believed I would set you in line

If only I had the strength then maybe you could believe in something else

If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to please stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to just tell me something

Through and through the alpha waves and power cables everywhere
Exercising self-control
The child calls and she lies open
I once believed if only I was thinking at all

If only I had the strength then maybe you could believe in something else

If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to please stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to just tell me something

If only I had the strength then maybe you could believe in something else

If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to please stop it now
If you keep asking me I'll melt away in the summer air
It won't hurt half as much and I'll beg for you to just tell me something

You stole out like my...?
So I'm engaged to smile

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "Ocean" by Ulalena are quite puzzling and can be interpreted in many different ways, based on the listener's personal experiences and emotions. The song appears to be about feeling lost and searching for a sense of belonging and purpose in life. The singer asks questions like "where is my home?" and "if only I had the strength, then maybe you could believe in something else." These lines suggest that the singer is struggling to find a place where they fit in and to convince others to see things differently.

The song also talks about the struggle for control and the desire to exercise self-control. Lines like "exercising self-control" and "if only I was thinking at all" indicate that the singer is wrestling with their own thoughts and emotions and perhaps trying to keep them in check. However, despite their efforts, they seem to be melting away like the summer air, implying a sense of vulnerability and weakness.

Overall, "Ocean" is a deeply introspective song that speaks to the human condition of searching for meaning and purpose, struggling with control, and facing our own vulnerabilities.

When I was a child, my parents took me to Maui and they went to see this show. I was not there but they bought the DVD and I fell in love instantly. I still remember the music to this day. Thank you for recording this and sharing it with the world. I'm in tears at how beautiful this is

@OhanaDreams

Seeing this video brought me to tears as well. Great memories!

I loved this production so much, I saw it 5 times when I lived there. I still have the poster, signed by the original cast, on my wall as well as the soundtrack. This was my favorite experience out of the many I had there. Whoever posted this, thank you! Mahalo!

The most beautiful performance I've ever seen in my life. This was more of a "Springboard" effect for us, to the island of Maui, but this show was a real tear-jerker, because the show was so precious, and it was well worth it. There is no other show that comes close to this. I hope that it will come back. I miss it a lot.

I saw this show the first year that it opened. ( 2000? I think.) To this day it is still the most beautiful show I've ever seen. At the time tickets were $25 bucks and we were lured into see it last minute with a 2 for 1 ticket. LOL! SO GLAD we saw it. The music gives me chills still.

Saw this show in late August 2007; now no more.

Just saw this last week. The singer has a beautiful voice. I talked to her after the show, and asked her had she been picked up for Disney or from anyone? Amazing voice! She sang this whole show, and to me that is the hardest job.
