You
{{{Sunset}}} Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Cemented shoes I'm sinking fast
There's no time to look and laugh
The empty lies that wicked laugh
A bed of nails across my back
Pleased to meet you step inside
You've found the perfect place to hide
Wake up call at twelve is fine
Woah I'm falling in your trap
Do what you want I won't talk back
I want you to hit me as hard as you can
Maybe then I might relax
Lying wide awake until the night begins to hide
Rewinding my mistakes bottle the memories deep inside
Another journey overhearing pin drops losing time
Hearing pin drops loosing time
Tried to escape
A shadow of my former self
Take a hold
Or you'll become somebody else
And maybe you could see the pain
And maybe one day you'll feel the same
Lying wide awake until the night begins to hide
Rewinding my mistakes bottle the memories deep inside

Another journey overhearing pin drops losing time
Hearing pin drops losing time

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sunset's song "You" is an introspective piece that shows the struggle of the singer against an irresistible force symbolized by the person addressed in the song. The opening line "Cemented shoes, I'm sinking fast" is a metaphor for the feeling of being trapped, weighed down and hurt, like sinking into quicksand. The singer expresses a sense of urgency, telling the person not to waste any time, as he is sinking fast. The "empty lies and wicked laugh" suggest deceit, and the "bed of nails across my back" signifies intense pain that is difficult to relieve.

Further into the song, the singer portrays the person as a trap, saying "I'm falling in your trap" and that he won't resist it. The line "Do what you want I won't talk back" shows his vulnerability and submissiveness. The lyrics then become more reflective as the singer acknowledges his past mistakes, regrets, and unfulfilled desires. He speaks of "rewinding my mistakes" and bottling up memories within him, suggesting that he has not yet come to terms with them. The lines "Take a hold or you'll become somebody else" seems like a plea for the person to rescue him from becoming a different person, one that he doesn't want to be. The singer's journey is marked by pin drops, quiet but significant moments that pass unnoticed. The repetition of the phrase "hearing pin drops, losing time" implies the irreversibility of time, the inevitability of change, and the need to seize opportunities while they are still available.

Overall, Sunset's song "You" embodies a sense of vulnerability, pain, and regret. It speaks of the danger of submitting to one's weaknesses and the importance of taking control of one's life before it's too late. The song emphasizes the inevitability of the passage of time, something one cannot control, but can only learn to deal with.

I love GOT7 and JayB songs but Def. hits differently, this is exactly everything I look for in a song. I've never found another artist who fits perfectly my style, Def. is just perfect. Lot of support here 💕

Jaebeom's work as Def is so special. I love his music doesn't matter if he releases it as Jay B, as a part of Offshore, as a part of GOT7 or Def and I love the fact that you can actually hear the difference between each of those. And appreciate all because all are incredible. Def is sentimenal, it sooth the soul

I never knew I was into R&B until I got hooked into kpop a few years back. GOT7 played a big part in that. Jay B's voice is so distinguishable and carries so much emotion. I wish I had the knowledge and understanding to explain it better, but I can clearly picture the scenary, the vibe and the thoughts going through my head when I listen to Jay B songs. It's like a whole mind trip. I love so many different groups and solo artists, but Jay B is something else. Love the dude and his work!
