Like to tell you 'bout my baby, you know she comes around,
Just 'bout five feet four a-from her head to the ground.
You know she comes around here just about midnight,
She make me feel so good, she make me feel all right.
And her name is g-l-o-r-i,

G-l-o-r-i-a gloria
G-l-o-r-i-a gloria
I'm gonna shout it all night gloria
I'm gonna shout it every day, gloria
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.

She comes around here just about midnight, ha
She make me feel so good, I wanna say she make me feel all right.
Comes a-walkin' down my street, then she comes up to my house,
She knock upon my door and then she comes to my room,
Yeah an' she make me feel all right,

G-l-o-r-i-a gloria
G-l-o-r-i-a gloria
I'm gonna shout it all night gloria
I'm gonna shout it every day gloria
Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah,
Looks so good gloria

All right, feel so good gloria
All right, yeah now.

Overall Meaning

The song "Gloria" by Van Morrison is about a woman named Gloria who comes around the singer's house just about midnight. The singer sings about how Gloria makes him feel good, and how she is the perfect girl for him. Throughout the song, the singer sings "G-l-o-r-i-a" followed by the word "gloria," and says that he is going to shout it all night and every day. The repetition of "gloria" helps to emphasize the importance of the girl and the good feelings she brings.

The use of the name "Gloria" is also interesting as it is a Latin name that means "glory." It is possible that the singer is using the name "Gloria" as a metaphor to represent the glory and awe he feels when he is with this girl. Alternatively, it could represent the way he sees her as a symbol of glory or a shining light in his life.

The song "Gloria" is also notable for its catchy beat and upbeat tone. It has become a rock classic and is often played at parties and clubs. Additionally, the song has been covered by a number of artists, including the Doors, AC/DC, and Patti Smith. The Doors' version, in particular, became very famous and was one of their biggest hits.

This song always reminds me of my mother. She had a pretty hard life, 2 divorces one from an abusive alcoholic, raised 4 kids, and died at 42 of cancer. But on occasion this song would play on the radio and she'd forget her worries for just a moment and sing it like Laura Brangahan herself. My best memories was when I was in college and we went to 2 weddings within 2 years and we danced to this practically clearing that dance floor. I just remember her wide smile and how happy she was in the moment. After the 2nd wedding, she was gone by the following year, but before she went I played this for her in the hospital and tho she couldn't sing, she flashed that signature smile. This song will forever and always be her song to me.
