Gimme Some
ÌÆÄÝ¡¤²¼ÀÙ˹¶Ù Toni Braxton Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It is an age-old story
Goes back to Adam and to Eve
I know you know
What I want for
And if it ain't clear to you, baby
Don't stop, let's rock
Give it to me, baby
[Chorus]
Gimme, gimme
Gimme some, gimme some
Ain't like you don't want none
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
What you gonna do?
Gimme, gimme
Gimme some, gimme some
Don't fight what you can't, son
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
What you gonna do?

You know you can't ignore it
I'm always there in your dreams
You know and I know what you want for
If it ain't clear to you, baby
Don't stop, let's rock

[Chorus]

Four letter words and three wishes
Is what I came for
Love birds blowin' kisses in picture-frame form
With just a fraction of this major attraction, coming soon
I bust and implode
Gimme, gimme room
I keep blazin'; it's so amazin'
The occasion that I am raisin', massive body invasion
So what you savin' all that love for?
Open up your mind, explore, and make it hardcore
I'll be your candy store
Give you just a little more than what you bargained for
And if you ask me for some guidance, it's not a minus
I'll break it down to a science, kitchen appliance
Sixty-nine, gimme mine; I'll be your valentine
365 days I want my sun to shine

See, I've been waiting for the planets to realign
Total eclipse on my lips until the end of time

Overall Meaning

In Toni Braxton's song "Gimme Some," she sings about a familiar story that goes back to Adam and Eve. The story centers on wanting something and not being afraid to go after it. She challenges her lover to give her what she wants and not to hold back. She, in turn, will give more than what he bargained for. The lyrics suggest a sexual or physical desire between the two partners. The chorus repeats, asking for what she wants and challenging her lover to give her that desire.

The second verse emphasizes her cost, highlighting her consistent presence in her lover's dreams. She knows what he wants and encourages him to open up his mind and explore a little more. The chorus repeats again before hitting the bridge, where Braxton talks about love, sexual intimacy, and exploration, using 69 and a comparison to a kitchen appliance.

Overall, the lyrics of "Gimme Some" emphasize the power of sexual chemistry and the need for open communication in a relationship. The attraction between the two partners is intense, and neither holds back in expressing what they want from each other.

I was a teenager in the 60's and I thank god for the wonderful life I had, the wonderful times I had and the wonderful music there was. I also thank god for my now late husband who I met when he was 18 in 1964. I would love to go back and do it all again. Thank you for the music.

@philipgundill237

I echo your sentiments exactly. Never will there be a time like we had in the 60's. Memories never fade. X

My Mother bought this song on a 45mp. I first heard it that Spring of '67 at the tender age 8yrs old, I thought the group singing it, were a Black R&B group puttin' down some GOOD sound !.....Well, I found out later they were a British group performing some "blue eyed soul," and did a DAMN GOOD JOB!....Get down wit yo' Bad Ass!!

@Tassie85

This masterpiece is 55 years old and so fresh and full of juice. Stevie Winwood was 16 here. Think about that for a minute. Astonishingly sublime.
