Колыбельная Медведицы
Аида Ведищева Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Аида Ведищева's song Колыбельная Медведицы paint a vivid image of a winter's night, as the singer tries to lull a baby bear to sleep. The first line describes the action of mixing snow with a spoon, perhaps to create a soothing sound, while the second line refers to the long night ahead. The singer then directs her attention to the baby bear, calling it a "глупышка," meaning a foolish or silly little one, and wondering why it is still awake. She mentions that the baby bear's neighbors, the white bears, are fast asleep, urging the baby bear to also close its eyes and rest. The final two lines of the verse introduce a new image of the singer and the baby bear floating on an ice floe, like on a sailing ship, through the gray and harsh seas. Throughout the night, they are accompanied by the neighboring stars, nicknamed the "звёздные медведи," or bear constellation, that guide wayward sailors on their journeys.
The song paints a beautiful picture of a winter's night with a powerful sense of imagery. The gentle tone of the lyrics conveys a sense of peace and calmness, while the use of powerful metaphors in the second verse helps to create a sense of adventure and wonder.
