Она
Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Бригадный Подряд's song Она tell the story of a woman who spends her days watching TV and getting lost in the dramas of various countries. She watches Mexican soap operas and sees Pedro come outside, which prompts her to water her geranium. She then goes back to staring at the screen. In Argentina, when Rodrigo enters Lucia's life, she glances at the door, feeling somewhat emotional but quickly dulls this emotion by taking medication. Finally, in Brazil, she watches a show about Maria's love, which she wishes she could experience too. However, after watching the news, she retreats into her bed and dreams about a prize competition, where a tampon is presented to her "best friend." A grotesque old lady chews a banana while singing about kefir.

This song is a commentary on how people can become so consumed by their televisions that they live through the characters they watch on the screen. Whether it's the romance and drama of Mexican soap operas or the heartbreak and tragedy of Argentinian telenovelas, the woman in the song is unable to differentiate between reality and the fictitious worlds portrayed on the television. This theme is reinforced through the images of the prize competition, where the tampon represents the trivial and absurd things that we are misled to believe are important.
