Led by singer Ilya Lagutenko (Илья Лагутенко), who formed the first version of the band in 1981, as a garage band project in Vladivostok. The band Мумий Тролль was officially formed in 1983. As the Soviet Union collapsed, Lagutenko temporarily left music behind to work in the UK and China (he is fluent in both Mandarin and English). Upon their first proper release, Morskaya (Морская, Nautical) in 1997, the band became hugely popular in Russia. In 2001 they represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest. Since then, the band has gained popularity internationally. They toured in North America with The Agency in 2009.
To date they have released eight studio albums (one being a soundtrack for a movie), and a number of compilations.

The lyrics of the song talk about a place where no one has seen the singer before and no one knows the person they are with. They both lie down on the rocks like seals and spread themselves in the scorching sun. The singer then talks about flying to the moon and wreaking havoc by playing on the glass until it boils. They retreat as a fleet of airplanes approaches them. The woman they are with is described as being covered in jam.
The song changes pace with the lyrics talking about stealing catamarans and chasing the sun to reach different stars. The singer then talks about writing everything down on the sand with their nails and carving it into the blue froth of waves. They write on the tiles falling like ants because the sun can not respond. The lyrics shift again to talk about being drunk on honey and passion, with the singer asking the person they are with to roll up their scarf to their elbows and put spirits on their knees. They talk about taking the sky for themselves, but the singer confesses to forgetting the address to the place they were at. The song ends with the singer wondering what they should tell the taxi driver.
