If HBO made a Frostpunk adaptation they would change the protagonist. Instead of the old white guy with glasses you see at the beginning of New Home, it would be about a (capital B) Black woman with no charisma or any sort of appeal or talent, but simultaneously admired by everyone around her, becoming the leader of a racially diverse but also 19th century British band of non-rioters freedom fighters, fighting an autocratic, evil government made entirely of (capital W) White men.

Oh and white people are to blame for the cold, somehow. It's like they only have one story they want to tell.

Almost. I'd like to say I meant to do that, but no.
Although, if I added another pair of stanzas right before the "metal hive/city must survive" lines, it would match up wonderfully with the point where the song picks up speed.

Edit: Nevermind, there isn't space for anything extra. The melody just gets kind of funky in that spot counting-wise.

I feel like the scouts would have the biggest ptsd and have many stories to tell, though they would be seen as a kind of mysterious and powerful force like seal team 6 but like way more mysterious. The reason being that scouts spend very little time in the city, and every time they come back it's only to deposit resources or take shelter for a day or so at a time. every time they come back the city has progressed and grown more and more and they don't stay inside nearly long enough to adapt and get used to the cities ever changing society and structure

The soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful. It inspires either hope or desperation, either makes you panic or relax. There is no respite between these extreme emotions.
I've made the mistake of playing the game for hours on end wearing headphones and this track got stuck in my head for the rest of the day and beyond.
I discovered this game and music at a perfect time for me. Every day is a struggle and this music matches it perfectly.

honestly a good part of what draws me into this game is the soundtrack. it works well with the game mechanics to make things feel just urgent enough. to make a "you lived, but at what cost?" ending inspire just a bit more emotion
(i may have almost cried when i heard this after finishing the arks scenario with dead seedling arks and a half-dead new manchester... i'm hyperempathetic so that probably didn't help but... the music makes like, half of the experience in this game - it's wonderfully made)

I don't know why but this is one of the few games that makes me feel genuine emotion towards my people and concern if they'll survive or not.. the music help so much with that and is ace combat level amazing in my opinion... Keep up the work on the legend of a game.. THE CITY MUST SURVIVE

Damn....this game really playing my emotions. Sometimes its sad looking the people get amputates or die in frozen workplace. Sometimes its hard to decide a law choice. Sometimes I feel angry to Londoners who didnt know how hard I trying to make generator on and they always make thing more worse.
Actually this game is master piece 👍, if this game get adaptation to a film its really great.

Honestly, I don't think I've ever played a more stark or bleak game in my life. And I haven't enjoyed a game this much in many years. I genuinely felt terrible when I had to make choices for the good of the people, and I felt like I had accomplished something great when the sun came out and my people rejoiced that they had survived the end of the world.
And above it all, the soundtrack was absolutely magnificent. During the final days of the Great Frost, my heart was pounding and as the music built and the screen began to freeze over, I found myself short of breath and terrified. The music was like icing on one of the greatest cakes ever. It was moving, and created an atmosphere that made it all too real.

Bravo, 11 bit studios. This game is a masterpiece. I'm sharing it with all of my friends.

As others have stated, Frostpunk's premise is perfect for a Tv or movies. Hell There are at LEAST two angles they could roll with or maybe use in diffrent shows. One centered around the scouts and one centered around the leadership of the city itself.

I've been thinking about this idea for some time: What game's music suits itself the best? More so focused on the tone of the game.

I was initially thinking of Starcraft 2's music but after rediscovering this game and its amazing soundtrack I would likely answer my question with Frostpunk.
Starcraft does I feel suit itself very well especially the Terran's music but I've played Starcraft for pretty much my whole life so that game is likely the most important game to me.
But, I was absolutely amazed to hear Frostpunk's music and I immediately loved the atmosphere this game created, literally as soon as I started playing I loved it.

I am at uni the now studying game design and production and I'd love to create something that even holds a candle to this. I'd love to thank all of you who were involved or had some influence in the making of Frostpunk, you are all great :)

разрабы хорошо музыку в конце игры подставили 80 человек в ледяной пустыне,мы стояли перед трудными решениями и тд, а в конце либо город выжил, но какой ценой( стоило ли оно того ), либо город выжил и кажется мы не переступили черту. для тех кто не знает то скажу, что если ты выбрав веру или порядок переходишь к какому то дерьмоправлению, типа казнь невиновных, пропаганда, тюрьмы, избиения во имя ХРИСТА, капитан это бог, то в финальных титрах тебе говорят что ты переступил черту.если же ты останавливаешься на менее радикальном: башенки с полицией, храм , полевые кухни, утренний сбор- то игра говорит что кажется мы не переступили черту мы маладцы).

This game reminds me Banished on a lot of mechanisms (micro management slowly turning to city management, ressources who look familiar)... Yet I feel it needs a few adjustments like shortcut to building's powers (how annoying it is when you lost your temple and guardians of faith in the middle of a lot of other buildings x)), the possibility to "unsign" laws and maybe a more punishing day/night cycle (colder at night). Also I would love an alternative game mode with multiple cities (controlled by the AI) and a commercial system. But the game is amazing nonetheless !
