Ay Albinoni!!!
Fue su música la primera que llegó a mis oídos (y no el adagio, sino un concierto para oboe), y desde entonces la música clásica entró a formar parte de mi vida. A mis hijos también les hice este "regalo" y ellos también la abrazaron.

Oh my...this is just....just...so unbelievably beautiful. It's like the sweetest candy, but to my ears. :-) I'm not a complete stranger to Tomasso Albinoni but this is my 1st hearing this piece, but definitely not the last.

Wonderful, noble and soothing music, perfectly performed. Thanks for this great upload ! Albinoni should be so much more known, and not just for his ubiquitous Adagio. IMO he is head and shoulders, and then some, above Vivaldi whom you seem to hear every five minutes on the radio. It is easy to see why Bach was attracted to Albinoni's music. If only these two composers would have met, and I'd been a fly on the wall.....

"The Albinoni Adagio in G minor is a 1958 composition entirely composed by Remo Giazotto, which Giazotto claimed to have based on fragments from a slow movement of an Albinoni trio sonata he had been sent by the Dresden State Library." FALSE. Giazotto actually copied the introductory part from a sonata now lost, see Nicola Schneider, "La tradizione delle opere di Tomaso Albinoni a Dresda", tesi di laurea specialistica (Cremona: Facoltà di musicologia dell'Università degli studi di Pavia, 2007): pp. 181–86.

Also, from Wikipedia: "The famous Adagio in G minor, the subject of many modern recordings, is thought by some to be a musical hoax composed by Remo Giazotto. However, a discovery by musicologist Muska Mangano, Giazotto's last assistant before his death, has cast some doubt on that belief. Among Giazotto's papers, Mangano discovered a modern but independent manuscript transcription of the figured bass portion, and six fragmentary bars of the first violin, "bearing in the top right-hand corner a stamp stating unequivocally the Dresden provenance of the original from which it was taken". This provides support for Giazotto's account that he did base his composition on an earlier source."

if the G minor piece is indeed not of Albinoni then orchestras must stop calling it his and always include disclaimers whenever they are to play it to educate audiences....hmmmmmm .... >:-/
