Innocence
₪ Halestorm Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

See it from the outside
Running toward the wall
Seeing from your blinds eye
But you don't know me at all

I've been here
Too many times before
And your tears don't mean a thing
I only come when you scream
I told you

[Chorus]
Just don't follow me home
You're just to perfect for my hands to hold
If you choose to stay you'll throw it all away
And I just want to take your innocence

This is what you wanted
Did I make your dreams come true
Sitting in a corner
Wondering what you got into
You ache for this

You don't understand
That your tears don't mean a thing
And I only come when you scream
I told you

[Chorus]

There's no such thing as fate
Only yourself to blame
You never walked away
I told you

[Chorus: x2]

And I just want to take your innocence
I just want to take

Overall Meaning

the chords if known.

In Halestorm's song "Innocence," the lyrics convey a message of warning and identity confusion. The song begins with the singer unsure of the perspective of an outside observer. They are running towards a wall, blinded by their own perception of themselves while the observer sees through them. The singer clarifies that they have been in this situation before and the tears of the observer have no meaning. The singer's presence is only triggered by the screams of the observer, which they made clear earlier on.

The chorus then serves as a warning to the observer. The singer tells them not to follow them home as their perfection is too much for the singer's hands to hold. The observer will throw it all away if they choose to stay, and the singer only wants to take their innocence. The second verse is a reminder that the observer is getting what they wanted, but they do not understand that their tears have no meaning. They ache for a situation they cannot comprehend. The singer repeats that they only come when the observer screams and warns them that there is no such thing as fate, only themselves to blame.

Overall, the lyrics in "Innocence" express the confusion and warning of someone who is unsure of their identity and does not want to take responsibility for the emotional or physical harm they can cause others. The song has a dark undertone, inviting listeners to question their own motivations and raise awareness about abusive and toxic behavior in relationships.

I learned a lot all throughout the episodes of Innocence. It taught me a lot to become wiser as I am facing the phase of Adolescence, it made me realize that our parents only wants the best for us. All the scenes gave me lessons that I could apply as I go through my life; love is not as easy as it sounds, love is sacrifice, love is not always happy, love could be dangerous, and love could be our end — these misfortunes, however, will only happen if we allow ourselves to stay blind. And so, we should never let others deceive us in any ways that Ela and Irem has gone through.

I, as a daughter of a cheating dad back then, do not allow any lie and hidden informations to my Mother. I've been the voice of the truth to her, it may have been sad and painful but my Mother deserved the honesty she needed. In fact, our Family is now recovering and is going through the process of healing and accepting what has been done by whoever did wrong—my dad, we are now opening our doors to the new horizons of life. We are slowly forgiving each other and giving our family the chance it deserves.

I learned to be grateful for what I have now after watching the movie. It gave me strength to face new challenges, I am also thankful that Ela and Irem freed their selves in a situation far from what they deserve. I am celebrating for the fact that they became so brave and ended what needs to be ended.

To Ilker, I hope he finally sort things out and make better decisions, he should start to cast away selfishness from him.

Everybody else in this Series should learn to stand for the truth even if it would affect them badly, they need no reputation, money, and image, they need acceptance and faith.

Thank you, Innocence.

SPOILER ALERT! I dont understand why people say “so we didnt get a happy ending”. What is the idea of happy ending? A narcisist, controlling 36 year old man whos still his mama boy with manipulative skills ending with naive and unexperienced 19 yo??? This is exactly happy ending. People who hurted ela got punished, Irem finally healed from her obsessive love and her need to be loved by ilker and got to her senses and i just love the girls raising the white flag and seeing they actually arent each others enemy! Irem was shook and stressed to see ela beaten and thrown on the road which shows that all she did bad to ela is because of being sick for ilker, and obssesion does that. Ela finally getting her truth and once getting her truth she is cutting everything she has with ilker. My favourite part was seeing timurs family all suprised and devastated when they found out about his afair with Banu and how the redhead cousin was two faced and they were actually the ones who humiliated them, and not Bahar and Ela. All the work that Bahar has put did pay off!! Go mama Bahar 🤝

Do you not understand? She produced the narcist. Do you nit understand the mother put her son at high esteem, and the father degraded him? The mom is part if the making, but you for some reason left out how the father was really the problem. Shame on you for not reading into the issue of narcissism.

@Lilly S. Even mass murderers have bad childhood experiences, bad parents, etc, it wasn't his "bad childhood" who hurt ela and others. It only gave him a tendency, otherwise, everything was completely his fault. He made every decision. Think about ela's mom bahur, she got pregnant only when she was in school, forced to live with a man for the sake of her children, did she took her anger and resentment on her children? Nope. People choose to take their anger and hurt others. Anger issues, narcissism, etc doesn't excuse his behavior one bit. His childhood, mental illness, circumstances, all are explanations of WHY he did all of this, but none of these are excuses.

There is one thing I didn't understand. Ilker wasn't wearing any black gloves but the person who put his handon ela was wearing black glove. MYSTERY 😐

This series has got to be the perfect example of "never go back to something, which God has already saved you from".
Bahar and Harun are first perfect parent's example, as per my opinion.

Harun is also a psychopath
