Before their official debut, they released four indies singles only available in Japan. They also sung the theme song for the Nintendo DS game "Densetsu no Stafi 4". ℃-ute's debut single "Sakura Chirari" (桜チラリ) was released February 21st 2007 and reached #5 on the Oricon weekly charts.

Yajima Maimi (矢島舞美, leader), Nakajima Saki (中島早貴), Suzuki Airi (鈴木愛理), Okai Chisato (岡井千聖), Hagiwara Mai (萩原舞).
Umeda Erika (梅田えりか) graduated on the last day of their concert tour on October 25, 2009.
Arihara Kanna (有原栞菜, added in January 2006) left the group on July 9, 2009.
Murakami Megumi (村上愛) left the group on November 3, 2006.

From what I read in translations of this song, I can see this isn't one of those nonsense songs Tsunku sometimes wrote, which is great because nonsense lyrics make me wish I'd never read a translation (I find quite unable to take a song with great melody but silly lyrics...). Still, I can't bring myself to like this song, the lyrics are fine, but they aren't especially deep or... well, special to make up for the melody, which I find pretty boring and uninteresting. The song is called "Here comes the season of love" and the lyrics are energetic, young girly song material, so of course the melody had to be upbeat/cheerful/happy... and they tried to do so but ultimately ended up with this... quite annoying melody. I'm not impressed.
The music video is pretty cheap too, just look at the backround... the murals look like what a elementary school would paint to decorate their walls (which can look endearing but in this case it looks just plainly old cheap), even Massara Blue Jeans' setting grew a little on me even when it's equally as cheap. Now, I'm not saying they should have spent a great amount of money on the video but they could at leasthave put some effort on the decorations, or even better, film the scenes in real places. But no, they went for the cardboard cuts. And don't remind me of the "bus" at minute 1:09, just... no.
The outfits are nice, I like the sporty uniforms they're wearing in the dance shot... E-except for the blue and red ones, red and blue might look good on Clark Kent and Spiderman but in many other cases it's one of the worst color combinations out there, really, second only to the yellow and red combination, and this is not the exception, they should have avoided it. The school uniforms and white dresses are fine. I hate the ugly hairstyles they gave Chisato, though. I know short hair is difficult to work with but that doesn't mean they had to be lazy. I particularly dislike the hairstyle she's using in the school uniform shots and in the white dress shots, not that that hairstyle in particular is bad but they gave Chisato that hairstyle in almost every single MV when they were young girls and it's really tiring. They always made it look like some sort of pigtail too... it looks ridiculous, it looks better when you simply pull your hair and use hair pins. It looks quite good in the white dress close-ups but in the school uniform scenes, not so much. The only time it worked was in the Sakura Chirari MV.
The choreography... I guess it's fine, but I don't find it particularly great. Meh, just meh. It gets endearing at 1:48 but then it's meh again.
I guess the best parts of this are Chisato and Kanna's facial expressions (such fun! they're so nice) and... well most of the girls in general that and the nice outfits..

+K3U Oh, C-ute is not my favorite H!P group but I do like some of the things they've got, they're a pretty nice group. I also don't critique every little thing in their videos but when something is not done the best they could have done it, I like to give my opinion, I think I have every right to give my opinion as long as I'm not insulting anyone. I'm not just screaming "MAN, THIS SUCKS, THIS GROUP SUCKS AND THIS AND THAT SUCKS!" no, I'm at least explaining why I don't think this is the best of C-ute, If I'm taking the time to pay attention to their videos and come up with a review it's because I'm interested in them, otherwise I'd just ignore them. Besides, I have every right to comment in here, isn't that what the comment box is for?
Also, have you read all the comments I've left on C-ute's videos or something? In some of them I criticize the music video but I praise the song (because there are C-ute singles with REALLY good songs but with bad/mediocre music videos), take FOREVER LOVE for example, I disliked the video (save for the excellent choreography) because it was mediocre but I LOVE that song, even if I disliked the video I gave it a thumbs up because the song alone (oh, and the choreography) is more than enough to make up for the mistakes the staff made at deciding the setting and editing of the video. it's not like I hate this group, I just don't like when they give mediocre settings/choreographies/looks to a group. I'm not attacking
the girls because they do what they're told to, they don't decide their
songs, settings for videos or anything else, I'm criticizing the staff
because they're supposed to be pros. I don't have negative reviews in
every C-ute video either (Shochuu Omimai Moushiagemasu, Sekaiichi HAPPY Na Onna No Ko, Namida No Iro...).
Tsunku is a capable man who sometimes comes up with great lyrics but sometimes he really just writes silly things... like making the girls sing about cake and other trivial stuff (so you can't take the song as seriously) and I'm not a suck-up who's gonna praise everything he does, because as humans we sometimes make mistakes and he's no exception. I like to write songs and think some of my songs are good but others are just plain stupid or just bad. As a songwriter you have to be exigent with yourself or else you're just being mediocre. I don't hate Tsunku, I'm just aware he isn't the God of songs. Also, I DIDN'T SAY THIS PARTICULAR SONG WAS NONSENSE, I SAID EXACTLY THE OPPOSITE, read carefully. I never said Tsunku only writes nonsense either, I said that he SOMETIMES does.
I also don't care if the girls are super pretty or beautiful (I care about their personality, about their expressiveness, about what can I see in them, if I can connect with them) but I don't like when the stylists make them look bad or silly. I also appreciate when they are looking good because I admire pretty girls, is it bad if I talk about that? I thought I was giving a compliment to them?
I talk about the clothes in the music videos... BECAUSE THE FREAKING MUSIC VIDEO IS THERE FOR A REASON! (the same for the choreography, the looks for the girls, the setting).They gave special clothing to the girls to compliment the song, is it bad if I pay attention to that? It's not like I'm saying "Uh-oh, X's got a hair out of place, it's 5 mm from where it would be perfect. That's horrible!". When I say "these clothes are pretty! I like how X looks with them" it's not just because I'm being frivolous or something, I'm actually praising the good taste of the stylists.
Maybe I was a little harsh on some things here, maybe my comment was too long but I spent time thinking about what to say about the video, I replayed the video many times to analyze it and to avoid being mean with the girls (I am only harsh with them when they're singing bad or boring in a MV) so that has to count for something. If you still feel so annoyed by my reviews then just ignore my comments, I'm just giving my opinion after all but don't ask me to be a suck-up, 'cause when something is bad, it's bad. I also don't care if people care or not about how I feel for the video, I comment because I like to do reviews.
Finally, I appreciate the hard work of the C-ute members (and the staff, 'cause they've done really nice MV's more often than they've done bad ones), in fact, most of them are wonderful (Megumi, Erika, Airi, Maimi, Chisato) others where fine (Kanna, Chisato when she was younger) the only ones I don't like as idols are Saki and Mai (because their voices are hit or miss, don't always sound good) but I'm not attacking them as people, I just don't think they're the best H!P members but I never said they didn't worked hard. The staff is capable of doing good things and I appreciate their hard work but let's be honest, sometimes it just seemed as if they were LAZY. I can't ignore that.
