℃-ute was formed in the year 2005, consisting of seven girls from Hello! Pr… Read Full Bio ↴℃-ute was formed in the year 2005, consisting of seven girls from Hello! Project Kids who were not chosen to form the group Berryz Koubou (Berryz工房).

Before their official debut, they released four indies singles only available in Japan. They also sung the theme song for the Nintendo DS game "Densetsu no Stafi 4". ℃-ute's debut single "Sakura Chirari" (桜チラリ) was released February 21st 2007 and reached #5 on the Oricon weekly charts.

The members of ℃-ute are:
Yajima Maimi (矢島舞美, leader), Nakajima Saki (中島早貴), Suzuki Airi (鈴木愛理), Okai Chisato (岡井千聖), Hagiwara Mai (萩原舞).

Umeda Erika (梅田えりか) graduated on the last day of their concert tour on October 25, 2009.
Arihara Kanna (有原栞菜, added in January 2006) left the group on July 9, 2009.
Murakami Megumi (村上愛) left the group on November 3, 2006.

やはりつんくだなぁ…。
どこまでも℃-uteらしいかっこよさを見せつけつつ、
ファンがやりやすいコールを入れて一緒に盛り上がれる構成にし、
かつ、簡潔なのに解散への思いを高める歌詞を綴るとは。
それをきっちりラストシングルでやってくるのが流石すぎるわ。
成熟したメンバーへのリスペクトと愛情、
解散で突き放されるようなファンの思い、
そのどちらもまるごと包み込む内容になっている。
そんな深い心配りをしながらこのクオリティを叩き出すなんて、もはや神業としか。
他の人には到底真似できない仕事だなぁ。

Sadly, the won't. They might had the same option that THE Possible had by moving to a different label inside Up-Front (that is my speculation, judging by what they said on their disbandim statement), I am not sure if they could have left Up Front with the name, though. Like continuing the group outside the whole company. But they chose to leave without taking the group with themselves.

I think that is the key. They didn't want to take the group somewhere else, to a different project under Up Front, so probably they all felt it was time to do different things.

All these idols in Japan, they join really young, and then some miss on stuff people with normal lifes don't. Until AKB48 came in, it wasn't usual to see idols trascend their 20's being still idols. It still isn't that normal for H!P, so I guess ºC-ute wanted to try different things.

Also, I've read many times (that from other fans), that being under H!P/Up-Front limites you a little, because their contracts are not that open to have the girls work too much outside what the company arranges for them. Correct me if I am wrong, but that would make a lot of sense on why there was a time the 48 groups and others surpassed them on terms of popularity. Even now that the new generation groups seem to be catching up with that factor, they still can't compare to the range other idol groups cover on media. And I am not only refering to AKB48 and their sister groups.

I am just grateful that I got in to them soon enough (late, though, when they already had the current line-up) and that because of them and the newest sound of H!P I started paying more attention to one of the fewest companies that allows Intl. Fans to watch the full PV's on their YouTube channel, and even bothers to add English translations of their song lyrics.
