Members:
Koumoto Hiroto (甲本ヒロト) – Vocal
Mashima Masatoshi (真島昌利) – Guitar
Shirabe Sakito (調先人) – Bass
Oshima Kenji (大島賢治) – Drums
Shirai Mikio (白井幹夫) – Keyboard
This lineup remained intact until 2003, when keyboardist Shirai Mikio left the band. The following year ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓ cut their ties to Universal Music, and Koumoto and Mashima formed HAPPYSONG RECORDS, their very own record label with ties to BMG Japan, which has since distributed their releases. After announcing their disbandment in late 2005, Koumoto and Mashima decided to form another punk rock band together, and ended up naming it ザ・クロマニヨンズ (The Cro-Magnons).

荒野はるかに
↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓ Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴

These lyrics are from the song "荒野はるかに" by ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓. The song expresses feelings of loneliness, freedom, and the uncertainty of life's journey.
The first verse talks about embracing loneliness and breaking away from the crowd. The singer is depicted as being alone, standing strong against the powerful wind. This could symbolize a desire for independence and the courage to face challenges on their own. The lyrics also mention embracing freedom, indicating a determination to live life on their own terms. The phrase "悲しみの彼方女サヨナラの時だ" suggests bidding farewell to sadness and moving towards happiness.
The second verse repeats the theme of the long and distant journey through the wilderness. The singer feels a calling from the wilderness, but questions who or what it is for. Despite the uncertainty, they decide to embark on the journey tonight. The lyrics ponder where they will eventually meet their end or cease to exist but acknowledge that only the voice in their heart serves as a guide. This implies that the singer seeks guidance from within rather than relying on external forces.
The chorus emphasizes the vastness of the journey through the wilderness. The repetition of "荒野荒野荒野はるかに" reinforces the sense of distance and remoteness. It seems to imply that the road ahead is uncertain and treacherous, but still worth venturing into. The repeated question of who or what is being called for highlights a sense of purpose, perhaps searching for meaning or a sense of belonging.
Overall, these lyrics seem to convey a yearning for independence and the courage to face the challenges of life's journey. It also reflects on the uncertainty of the future but encourages trusting one's own heart as a guide. The repetition of the word "荒野" (wilderness) suggests a desire to explore the unknown and find one's own path in the vastness of life.
