Accidents
░Alexisonfire░ Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm not sure what's worse
The waiting or the waiting room
"You're next sir" becomes cruel taunt to you
Recycled air, the smell of sleep and disinfectant
Your god is a two door elevator

Do they even cure you?
(Cut me open drug me) or it is just to humor us
(Repair all my defects) before we die
If only we could heal ourselves
We wouldn't need to be hooked up to these machines

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Let's redefine
(what it means to heal)

Whoa whoa whoa

Do they even cure you?
(Cut me open drug me)or it is just to humor us
(Repair all my defects)before we die
If only we could heal ourselves
We wouldn't need to be hooked up to these machines

Overall Meaning

The ░Alexisonfire░ song "Accidents" is a commentary on the modern healthcare system and the vulnerability of human life. The song begins with the singer expressing uncertainty about whether the waiting or the waiting room is worse, highlighting the anxiety and stress that comes with the anticipation of receiving medical treatment. The line "Your god is a two door elevator" further emphasizes the dehumanization that occurs in hospitals as patients are treated as numbers and medical procedures are performed almost mechanically. The lyrics also question the efficacy of medical treatments and whether they are being performed to actually cure patients or just to humor them before they inevitably pass away.

The repeated phrase "Let's redefine what it means to heal" suggests a desire for a change in the way healthcare is approached, perhaps a shift towards a more holistic and preventative approach rather than just treating symptoms. The song ends with the same question posed again, "Do they even cure you? Or is it just to humor us?" leaving the listener to ponder the state of our healthcare system.

As a retired fire chief that has worked at many scenes similar to this I must say that the fire department on the first call is a well trained department. The officer in charge is all business and knows exactly what to do. The other firefighters are all performing their assigned duties with no confusion or lack of organization. This clip could be a perfect part of a training video. Major Props to this fire department. 👍👍💯

I'm the wife a retired fire chief and I'm a paramedic. You are so right, they did their job calmly and very effectively. They did an excellent job.

@jbass69goat by glass management, I mean making sure it doesn’t fall into the first place. In the UK, we wrap the windscreen in a special adhesive type of cling film (seran wrap to you) so that it doesn’t fall into the vehicle in the first place. That white sheet doesn’t stop glass going into wounds to the lower limbs.
