I used to think Chester’s lyrics were typical teenage angst but I was clearly projecting as an angsty teen. This is one of my favorite songs from the band, alongside Papercut. This truly was the golden era of music. This time in my life brings back so many good memories. I mean, back when an audio CD with your favorite music selection felt so precious—it helped you escape depression, lifted your mood, and made the day easier to get through.

It was the era of fantastic rock bands making music with real replay value. Not to mention, life just felt a whole lot better then. I wish I could go back to that semi-digital age.

For me it always sounded like Mike raps in the LP songs represented the voice inside Chester's head. I always thought that it was a genius touch. The rap always represented the chaos in Chester's miind, saying discouraging words, while Chester's voice represented him trying to get better and be more optimistic. The change of vubes (rap and rock), also to seemed represent how different he was inside of his mind (depressive) and outside (motivated to keep going, even though he was suffering).

Victoria Allen Hope: That's the aspect that I love about Linkin Park the most. Their uniquely dynamic and haunting relationship between Mike and Chester's rap and rock deliveries. Mike's raps expresses the psychological and repressive aspects of turmoil while Chester's rock delivery is a release of cathartic anguish. I also love the mixture of post-grunge and hip-hop elements in their early works. It's sad that we will never get to see this sort of relationship ever again and Chester will be missed.

Every single track was a single on those two albums. They were so good. It was 2000 when I first heard Linkin Park. I was watching a German music channel that we somehow had with our satellite TV and they were showing upcoming bands live and Linkin Park was singing Papercut and One Step Closer. I was hooked. I tried to purchase their cd, but you couldn't get it in the US, at least not in Dallas, TX. The only thing we could order at the Virgin Megastore was the One Step Closer single from Germany. It had One Step Closer, My December, and High Voltage on it. It wasn't until late 2001 and early 2002 my senior year of High School that they started playing on local radio stations, nearly two years since I bought the single and I was able to get the main album by that time, but I was still hooked.

When Meteora released I told my instructor in college that I had to leave early so I could go pick up Meteora and she let me leave as long as I picked up a copy for her. That lived in my CD player for years. That was my most anticipated CD purchase ever. Even more so than Daft Punk Human After All.
