Before my older brother was born my parents had another child. He was very sick when he was born. He only lived 3 days after he was born. In 2006, my parents got a dog on Christmas. Me and my brother were only a year and 9 months old. He was an English Mastiff. I grew up with him. I loved him so much. In March 2015, he began acting strange. He always hated blankets for some reason, like if we were to put one on him he would get up right away. I put a blanket on him and he didn’t even move. A friend he had never seen before came over and he didn’t even react. I can’t remember how much later this was, but we noticed he was extremely bloated. We took him to the vet. He had cancer. It was soul crushing. I had loved this dog more than anything. We stayed there with him that morning, at the vet, on the table. It was the first time I saw my dad cry. I will never forget that moment. We went home without the dog. I will never forget how quiet the house seemed. No animal to greet you. It was so bad that we got two cats the same day. We also got another English Mastiff in 2018. He really fills the gap.

I've been in this situation before though(feeling left behind and falling back into sadness), and all I have to say is that you need to focus on yourself. It doesn't matter if it's meditation, exercise, or even a skin care routine. You just need to work on yourself, cut out toxic people in your life and grow/mature at your own pace. I sometimes feel that way, but I realize this is the life you get once and I ignore the most annoying, dumbest people ever. I talk to the once I care the most and sometimes hanging out with your self is good you get to do the thing you like to do and not listen what other say. Sometimes when I'm in class and teacher tells us to be in groups, I'm like so anyone is going to talk. Just talk to someone. Dont feel upset everyday it drains you, you need to see the sunset, paint, feel the fresh air, see the people crossing the streets. My grandpa was really sick.
In November 30th, 2020, I went to his house and when I was leaving, at 10 pm, I told him "take care yourself".
At 3 am, he passed away.
Hope you are in a better place, grandpa.

My grandpa passed on the 28th of November and I didn't see him for a long time before. He always wanted me to go see him, and he always wanted me to become a fluent spanish speaker. I just wish I got the chance to visit him more.

I know nobody will see this, but I need to get it off my chest. My grandpa is in his 80’s and lives in a country with horrible healthcare(Iraq) His wife(my grandma) already died 11 years ago when I first came to America. Since 2010, when I first got here, I’ve only went back once to see my extended family but I was like 12 and had no idea how valuable this was, since where I’m from, your extended family are really close to you and not just some people you barely know. The wisdom you can get by talking with the elderly is unmatched. There are plenty of old people where I live, but it isn’t the same when this man gave life to my father who then went on to give life to me. Luckily, my great grandpa, who was his father died at over 100 years old. He lived to see the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Imagine speaking with somebody who lives through that. My grandpa was a soldier when Iraq was a kingdom and was already at retirement age at the rise of Saddam in the 70’s. It amazes me how much he’s experienced and I’d hate to not be able to have my share of time with him before he departs. I lost my entire sophomore year because of the lockdown, and I spent a lot of time thinking about how fast time is going and how many things I’m going to lose out on if I keep living like this and how everything I’ve been chasing is pretty much a lie. I have so many things bottled up but I just can’t put them to words. I don’t have anybody to vent to and turned to radicalism for a long time and that really messed with me. I just want to be happy.
