I was going to be at that concert. I had a friend who had extra tickets and asked me to go. I was 11 and at the last minute, my mom said I couldn't go. The funniest part of it was that she thought the Monkee's were too wild. LOL

Htes reyzaw

You fucked up lmao

Cheryl Hulting

Actually the Monkees were much wilder than their squeaky clean image would have suggested!

And that's why Jimi Loved England, His London flat in Mayfair was the only place he ever called home, the only place he felt secure, he also loved the Fact Britain Got him as a musician whilst America Were still lagging behind, his style was all London based, But his Music was So much American yet Americans didn't get him.

God Bless you Jimi Hendrix.

The UK is more accepting than America even to this day

Jimi unquestionably changed music and revolutionized guitar playing. But I still don't think we should discount pop music. Bubblegum Pop was an enormous influence on the Ramones. I get that it's commercial and that some people see it as disingenuous but the songwriting is still consummate and is of substance just because it adheres to a kind of structure that is culturally relevant. Without it, we might thereby have never had punk and indie. Michael Nesmith was an artist in his own right, too.

I was there at Forest Hills. I was shocked to see Jimi Hendrix come onstage. He rocked! I was stunned. I went out the next day and spent my allowance money on his album! I remember screaming to others in the audience, listen...this guy is amazing. I think we are watching something special. I was so sad when he walked off stage. I am so happy to have been there!

What people have to understand is that before the Monterrey Pop Festival film came out, Hendrix was still not a big star. It got him some exposure in the US but joining The Monkees tour got him even more exposure/publicity. The Monkees were the highest selling recording artists in 1967. That doesn't seem possible today but it was true. Even though the mix was odd this bit of touring with The Monkees helped break Hendrix in the US.

I understand this comment. It brings this video to full circle
