Happy End’s albums blended Western folk singing with Japanese melodies. Its members were 細野晴臣 (Haruomi Hosono, bass, vocals), 松本隆 (Takashi Matsumoto, drums, from the band Apryl Fool), 大瀧詠一 (Eiichi Ohtaki, guitar, vocals), and 鈴木茂 (Shigeru Suzuki, guitar, vocals). They originally belonged to the URC Records recording label, and later the Bellwood Records label. Hosono later went on to join the Yellow Magic Orchestra.
In 2003, the Happy End song “Kaze Wo Atsumete” appeared on the Lost In Translation movie soundtrack.

空いろのくれよん
はっぴいえんど Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song "Sorairo no Crayon" by はっぴいえんど tells the story of a person who draws their lover using a sky-colored crayon. They are in a deserted amusement park in the middle of the day, and the lover is wearing a floral dress that looks wonderful on them but does not fit in the singer's pocket. The singer neglects their lover, causing them to turn their back to them. Suddenly, the lover's pupils turn into snowflakes, and the world around them starts to sway like a swing. The lover is too beautiful for the singer to keep in their art, so they vanish into the winter sky. The singer suspects they have caught a cold.
The lyrics create a vivid image of a couple that is separated by their own neglect and inability to appreciate each other's beauty. The use of the sky-colored crayon symbolizes the vastness of the couple's potential but also their distance. The deserted amusement park is an eerie setting that highlights the couple's isolation. The lover's eyes turning into snowflakes add a surreal and magical element to the story, emphasizing that it was an experience that they cannot forget.
