Japan's music industry was thriving and was recognized by many western countries. Koreans weren't making money especially because Korea was still a developing country. So it turned to Japan and wanted to sell their music in the market hoping that it would eventually spread across the globe. This was before You tube and Google I believe. Only AOL lol

Question for japanese : when Koreans and maybe Chinese do a Japanese version of their song... do they usually have an accent? Also why a japanese version? Is it because of history between the countries? I rarely see Americans singers doing like a French or Spanish version of t,heir song.

I think they probably have an accent. Korea and Japan have had conflicts from history till this day. Still, Japan has a bigger entertainment industry than Korea, so Korean singers tend to make a Japanese version of their songs to appeal to Japanese audiences since China banned Kpop.

I think they tend to do Japanese versions cuz they wanna appeal to the Japanese market. It’s like the 2nd or 3rd biggest in the music industry after the U.S

its not a accent dude. Asian languages has their own "alphabet system" and their way of pronouncing words. If she sings the English parts in straight up US/UK pronunciation. The Japanese folks many not understand & its disrespectful
