(The Elephant Kashimashi aka "Ele-kashi") is a Japanese Alternative rock band, originally formed in Tokyo by Miyamoto, Ishimori and Tominaga when they were in junior high school (1981). Takamidori, who was Tominaga's friend in his high school, joined the band in 1986.
Their work can be divided into two major stylistic periods: the "Epic Sony years" (1988-1994, the albums Elephant Kashimashi through Tokyo No Sora) and the "Pony Canyon & Faithful, EMI Music, Universal Music years" (1996-present, the album Kokoro Ni Hana Wo onward). A major change in songwriting, production, and general playing style (especially Miyamoto's vocals) occurred along with this label switch.

Oh yeah he!
Oh baby
Oh baby
Oh baby
Hu!! Yeah... Yeah... Oh yeah...
Hey
Ah... Yeah... Ah... Ah...
The lyrics to エレファントカシマシ's song ドビッシャー男 depict a man starting his day by reading the newspaper, finishing his meal, and going out with determination. He's described as a romantic figure, with tears in his eyes from the emotions he feels as he pursues both justice and wrongdoing. The song makes reference to the lives of samurai, who were known for their honor and pride, sometimes even dying for it. The difference between the lives of men and women is highlighted, women being said to harbor love and freedom while men have a foolish side.
The lyrics continue to praise the samurai way of life, despite it being a life of deprivation, and how emotions are deeply ingrained within them. The man in the song is portrayed as shedding tears at the sight of the moon in the city late at night, proving his emotional depth. However, he hides his pain behind a smile and his devotion for justice. The song ends by acknowledging that they may be doomed, but they are the "Dobishaman".
Overall, the lyrics paint a picture of a strong-willed man who, despite living a rough life, has a deep sense of honor and emotion. They highlight the way men lead their lives and the pride they take in their hardships, but also the weight and difficulties that come with that. The song is a unique mix of nostalgia for the past and appreciation for modern Japanese society.
