Her career began in the late 1960s when she recorded a few folk and blues records, primarily as a part of the band Carmen Maki & Blues Creation, but also as a solo artist, with her debut album "真夜中の詩集 ろうそくが消えるまで" (Poems in the Midnight: Till the Candle Goes Out), released in 1969.
In the 1970s, she formed a rock band called Carmen Maki & OZ. Later she recorded a solo heavy metal album in 1979, in collaboration with the drummer Carmine Appice. She left music in 1984 due to health problems. After ten years of absence, she returned to music again in 1993.

こういう若き日のカルメン・マキの美しい歌声を立ち上げて頂き、大変有難うございます。
後になり、彼女はロック・シンガーになってしまいますが、私には彼女が自分の美しい声の持ち味を磨り潰していってしまったような印象をもちます。
それだけに、「さよならだけが人生ならば」とかとても感激して聞かせてもらってます。

同感です。カルメン・マキのロｯク曲のＣＤを買いましたが、ほとんど聴いてません。また、マキのロｯク曲は、馴染めません。やはり、マキの歌は、ホオークソングが素晴らしいし、心に響きます。😊😊
