Tumbleweed
Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to サディスティック・ミカ・バンド's song Tumbleweed talk about moving on without being tied down by anything. It's about embracing the uncertainty of the future and believing in oneself. It encourages the listener to leave behind the sweet memories that we hold dear and move forward without looking back. The phrase "風のままに" (kaze no mama ni) refers to going with the flow of the wind, and being true to oneself, rather than conforming to societal expectations. The line "すべてはこの道の上で" (subete wa kono michi no ue de) repeats throughout the song, emphasizing that everything lies on the path we choose to take.

The lyrics touch upon the theme of letting go and holding on. The singer is torn between wanting to forget what they once loved and to keep holding on to it. The repetition of "手を振った 振り向かずに" (te wo futta furimukazu ni) emphasizes the idea of moving on without looking back. The chorus encourages the listener to keep rolling, keep moving forward without hesitation.

This re-release features the latest remastering of all four original albums and two live albums from the first period (1972-1975), when MIKA was the vocalist, and the second period (1989), when Karen Kirishima was the vocalist.
In addition, a newly discovered disc of live recordings from Maruyama Park, Kyoto in 1974, a disc of rare tracks including different live versions and takes, and a studio live video from the BBC's "Old Gray Whistle" Test in 1975, which is said to have overwhelmed the audience as the band expanded overseas.
