Their sound evolved with time, and when Harushige Maruyama joined the band (now a three-piece) they released their first major label mini album,『若者たち』(Wakamonotachi, "Young People"). From their own admission, the album's sound owed much to the Japanese guitar group Flipper's Guitar, of which they were big fans. Their sound was also reminiscent of the folk music revolution, exemplified in the music of late 60s Japanese group はっぴいえんど (Happy End). Sunny Day Service has gained considerable recognition for their acoustic work from this album.
Continuing their success and releasing a number of albums and singles, at the end of their Love Album Tour in 2000, Sunny Day Service announced they would disband. Since disbanding, a best of and b-side compilations have been released, while Keiichi Sokabe has gone on to a successful solo career.

サニーデイ・サービス Lyrics

These lyrics are from the song "NOW" by サニーデイ・サービス. The song talks about the theme of longing for someone and the uncertainty of love. The singer always seems to take the wrong path and end up in the wrong place, metaphorically representing their unsuccessful attempts at love. They have passed the station of the "last train of love" and can now see summer approaching from outside the window, which symbolizes new beginnings and possibilities.
The lyrics express a vague desire to see the person they long for, with the wind carrying their message to her. The singer imagines a future where they continue to love each other indefinitely, dreaming beyond the small hill. However, the "last train of love" is depicted as distant, with its light appearing and disappearing in the window, hinting at the transience of love and the ambiguity of their chances for a reunion. The singer wonders if their dreams have become reality and questions whether they truly want to see her or if it's just a temporary longing.
Overall, the lyrics evoke a bittersweet feeling of longing, uncertainty, and the passage of time in the context of love.
