The group consisted of the leader Ikariya Chosuke (いかりや長介) (died in 2004), Kato Cha (加藤茶), Nakamoto Koji (仲本工事), Takagi Bu (高木ブー) and Arai Chu (荒井注). Arai Chu retired in 1974 and Ken Shimura (志村けん) joined them.

I discovered this song thanks to our Japanese guide during my vacation in Japan, we all sang it together in the bus on our way to the onsen it was very nice. It actually makes me kind of jealous of the Japanese people, to have things like this that unites everyone. I wish we had more of this in France. We are always so divided.

This song is nostalgic for me. Not because I heard it when I was a kid, and not because I'm Japanese (I'm not).
It's nostalgic to me because the first anime I watched, Love Hina, had a live show and they sung this song. Until this week, I thought it was an original, but now I find out, all of these years later, that the song is many many years older and it was just a cover.
